Chapter 49 - chapter 47

Alexander stared at the phone for a long time.

The device felt heavier than any weapon he owned.

Ciel stood nearby, silent, understanding enough not to interrupt.

"…There's something I need to know," Alexander muttered.

His thumb hovered over the screen.

Then he typed.

Alex:

Did I… change the outcome?

Did I change my mother Frigga's death?

The message sent.

No reply came.

TOAA's Silence

Far beyond time—

The One Above All read the message.

He did not answer immediately.

Instead, He looked.

He saw the branching timelines.

The rewritten paths.

The moments Alexander could not ignore.

He saw Alexander in the future—

Standing between fate and people who were meant to die.

Civilians.

Soldiers.

Worlds.

He saw Tony Stark, a death that should have been inevitable.

And Alexander—

Refusing to accept it.

He remembered the test.

A moment TOAA had created.

A future where Alexander was told:

Do not interfere.

And Alexander's answer had been silence.

Not defiance.

Just resolve.

How much can I bear,

watching my people die?

TOAA saw the war that followed.

Alexander standing against Celestials, flames restrained yet absolute.

Putting them back in their place.

Not as a conqueror.

But as a protector.

TOAA laughed softly.

"…I already knew the answer."

The Reply

Back in Asgard, Alexander sat quietly.

Minutes passed.

Then—

The phone vibrated.

Alexander froze.

He looked down.

TOAA:

Yes.

You saved your mother.

Frigga will not die.

That is all.

Alexander stared at the screen.

Once.

Twice.

Then—

His shoulders dropped.

A breath he didn't realize he was holding escaped him.

"…Thank you," he whispered.

Relief washed over him completely.

Not explosive.

Not dramatic.

Just warm.

Ciel looked at him.

"Master," she said softly, "your emotional stress levels have decreased significantly."

Alexander smiled.

"…Yeah."

He leaned back, eyes closing.

"I guess," he said quietly,

"I can finally stop worrying about that."

Ciel nodded.

"The timeline acknowledges your choice."

Alexander looked up at the ceiling.

"For once," he said,

"fate did something right."

Somewhere Beyond Everything

TOAA watched him relax.

And smiled.

"He chose love," TOAA said softly.

"As expected."

The future continued—

Changed.

And for the first time—

Alexander slept peacefully that night.
