Chapter 135 - chapter 133

Natasha waited until the laughter died down.

Then she reached into her jacket and pulled out her phone.

"Alex," she said carefully, turning the screen toward him, "is this… something to do with Asgard?"

On the display was a grainy satellite photo: a massive object embedded in the desert of New Mexico, surrounded by dust, military vehicles, and a rapidly forming perimeter.

Alex's expression softened instantly.

"Yes," he said. "That's Mjölnir."

Tony blinked. "Gesundheit."

Alex ignored him. "Thor's hammer. His weapon. And, unfortunately, his greatest teacher."

Natasha studied his face. "Why is it on Earth?"

Alex leaned back, fingers interlaced, voice steady but edged with old familiarity.

"Thor was about to be crowned King of Asgard," he said. "But before the ceremony, he made a mistake."

Veronica frowned. "What kind of mistake?"

"The Thor kind," Alex replied dryly.

A few smiles flickered.

"He almost started a war with Jotunheim," Alex continued. "Frost Giants. Ancient enemies. Odin stepped in and cleaned up the mess before blood was spilled."

Tony muttered, "Classic dad move."

"But Thor didn't understand," Alex said. "He argued. He demanded to finish what he started. He believed strength alone made him worthy."

Alex's eyes darkened, just a little.

"That made Father angry."

Silence settled over the room.

"Odin sealed Thor's powers," Alex finished. "Stripped him of his godhood. Sent him to Earth to learn humility."

Natasha exhaled slowly. "So the hammer—"

"Is bound by a worthiness enchantment," Alex said. "Until Thor understands what it truly means to be king, it will not move for anyone."

Tony grinned. "I suddenly feel much better about not being able to lift it."

Alex stood.

"That's all you need to know for now."

He looked at each of them in turn—Tony, Pepper, Veronica, Gwen, Skye, Jennifer, Helen, and Natasha.

"Please," he said quietly, "do not reveal my identity to anyone."

There was no threat in his tone.

Just trust.

Everyone nodded immediately.

Natasha lingered as the others began to move.

"I'll report in," she said. "Director Fury will want something."

Alex met her gaze. "If he wants answers," he said, "tell him to keep an eye on the hammer in Mexico."

Natasha nodded once. "Understood."

Alex left the Stark mansion with Veronica, Gwen, Skye, Jennifer, and Helen, the night air cool against their skin as the cars pulled away toward Ashborn Mansion.

Natasha watched them go—especially Alex—before turning back toward her own destination.

SHIELD – Later That Night

Nick Fury didn't look up when Natasha entered.

"Report," he said.

Natasha placed a file on the table. "The object in New Mexico is real. It's Asgardian."

Fury finally looked up.

"And?"

Natasha hesitated—then chose her words carefully.

"Alexander Ashborn said if you want answers," she said, "keep your eyes on the hammer."

Fury leaned back slowly.

His hand drifted—almost unconsciously—to his coat pocket.

Where an obsidian-black badge rested.

"…I was afraid he'd say that," Fury muttered.

Elsewhere, Far Above

In the vast halls of Asgard, unseen eyes turned toward Midgard.

And in the desert of New Mexico, a hammer waited.

For its master.
