068 The Fluctuation That Ends Fate!
Time flew by in the Resident Evil world, and a month had passed in the blink of an eye.
During this month, Marcus steadily gained control of Umbrella Corporation. With Alicia's covert support and the Red Queen's assistance, Marcus had acquired considerable control over Umbrella's operations.
In the anti-T-virus research lab, Marcus was discussing the project with Dr. Charles.
"How's the progress?" Marcus asked.
Dr. Charles, sitting in his wheelchair, shook his head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Foster, our progress is very slow."
"What?" Marcus looked at Dr. Charles with a puzzled expression.
Marcus had already provided Dr. Charles with research materials related to Dr. Isaacs's anti-T-virus project. Logically, given Dr. Charles's capabilities, there should be some progress by now, right?
Dr. Charles replied, "We are still analyzing the anti-T-virus data. Because we took over midway through the project, we need more time to verify the anti-T-virus experiments from the beginning."
"When will the anti-T-virus be completed?" Marcus pressed.
Dr. Charles shook his head. "I'm sorry, I can't give you an exact timeline."
Marcus sighed. "Dr. Charles, I hope you can understand my urgency. The T-virus is spreading worldwide, and the situation is getting worse and worse. I hope you can complete the anti-T-virus project as soon as possible to save the world."
"Our goal is to save the world, understand?" Marcus emphasized.
Dr. Charles nodded vigorously. "Understood! Mr. Foster, please rest assured, I will do my best to develop the anti-T-virus."
Marcus patted Dr. Charles's shoulder.
After leaving the anti-T-virus project research lab, Marcus went to the T-virus Perfect Compatibility Research Lab, another project he was monitoring closely.
"Dr. Isaacs, I want to hear some good news!" Marcus spoke first.
This Dr. Isaacs was naturally a clone!
The clone Dr. Isaacs had very low clearance. His main research focus was identifying perfect compatible candidates for the T-virus, so when Marcus arranged for him to work with Alice, he did not resist, nor did he activate the failsafes left behind by the original Dr. Isaacs.
Faced with Marcus's question, the cloned Dr. Isaacs looked embarrassed. "I'm sorry, Mr. Foster, our research has encountered a problem."
"What?" Marcus looked at the cloned Dr. Isaacs with a puzzled expression.
Dr. Isaacs possessed an extraordinary talent in the field of biotechnology—that much was undeniable—and even as a clone, he possessed remarkable expertise.
In the original storyline, the cloned Dr. Isaacs had also achieved T-virus compatibility—even if not perfectly—he still retained a conscious mind and activated psychic enhancement, though his physical appearance had mutated.
Marcus had extremely high expectations for the cloned Dr. Isaacs.
"I'm truly sorry, Mr. Foster," the cloned Dr. Isaacs scratched his head. "We've encountered a major obstacle. We can't understand the mechanism of the T-virus and Alice's genetic compatibility."
"What's going on?" Marcus clearly didn't understand this technical issue.
"Ordinary T-virus infected individuals have their genes completely corrupted by the T-virus, thus losing consciousness and becoming mindless infected with only primal hunger," the cloned Dr. Isaacs explained.
"But within Alice's body, the T-virus and Alice's genes are harmoniously combined. The T-virus continuously strengthens Alice's genes, thus giving her greater strength, faster regenerative capability, and a significant enhancement in psychic power," the cloned Dr. Isaacs continued.
"The problem we're facing now is that we can't understand why the T-virus and Alice's genes are compatible." At this point, the cloned Dr. Isaacs lowered his voice.
"We even used Alice's blood to clone her, but the cloned Alice cannot achieve perfect compatibility with the T-virus; she only receives a fraction of the T-virus's enhancement." The cloned Dr. Isaacs explained.
Marcus snorted lightly. "If you can't understand it now, then find a way to understand it. This is very important. Dr. Isaacs, I believe you understand what I mean, right?"
The cloned Dr. Isaacs nodded firmly. "I understand!"
"Good!" Marcus nodded slightly. "I'll increase your research budget by twenty percent. I hope you won't disappoint me!"
"Please rest assured, Mr. Foster!" the cloned Dr. Isaacs responded forcefully.
Marcus remained silent, simply leaving the T-virus Perfect Compatibility Research Lab.
Umbrella Corporation, North American Headquarters.
Marcus returned to his residence and called out, "Ayanami."
"Hello, Mr. Foster, what can I do for you?" a cold, emotionless female voice replied.
Marcus had modified the voice parameters of his AI system.
"Inform the catering department; I'd like steak and potatoes today," Marcus instructed.
"Yes, Mr. Foster, I've already notified the catering department," Ayanami responded.
As Marcus prepared to review the legal disputes facing Umbrella Corporation, the System issued a notification in his mind.
'Host, the system has detected fluctuations in the fate stream of the Terminator world,' the System warned.
'What's going on?' Marcus was taken aback.
The situation in the Terminator world should be stable, right?
Marcus had prepared a series of countermeasures against Terminators and Skynet in the Terminator world. Logically speaking, even if the Terminator world was trapped in a temporal prison, with Marcus's pre-planned solutions, could Skynet still cause trouble?
"Because we've crossed dimensions, the system can't accurately ascertain the situation in the Terminator world, but it suggests the host return to the Terminator world to investigate. The River of Fate is fluctuating, and the host is highly likely to gain benefits!" The System suggested.
Marcus considered for a moment before replying, "Okay! First, we'll establish a dimensional gate between the Resident Evil world and the base world, then return from the Resident Evil world to the base world, and then go directly to the Terminator world."
"By the way, we shouldn't linger in the base world, lest we encounter temporal displacement again!" Marcus specifically reminded.
The base world was trapped in a bizarre temporal prison, and Marcus expressed his reluctance to return.
After all, temporal displacement could happen at any moment, and even though Marcus possessed the talent of true temporal perception, retaining complete and clear memories would require consuming Destiny points.
Marcus valued Destiny points extremely highly; even for his own four-dimensional attributes, he hadn't been willing to expend Destiny points, so how could he waste them on temporal displacement?
"Acknowledged, host. Establishing the dimensional gate, please wait..." the System responded.
