Back at base, Midas had been quite busy.
He discovered that he already had a blueprint he could use. It was a small hut with a circular foundation of walls and a straw roof.
The outside was made with sticks and covered with clay, with a couple of boarded windows.
Midas gathered all the necessary materials, and when he activated the blueprint, a transparent blue structure appeared where Midas wanted his hut to be.
It was the hut, but with no color except for white lines streaking through its transparent blue body, like a collared shirt.
Gathering the materials was the most difficult part. Building the actual house was surprisingly easy thanks to the help of the system.
Things that were meant to go in certain places seemed to have an almost magnetic pull to them.
When placed close enough to the designated position, the boards and clay would simply mold into place where they were meant to be.
This made the entire process short, and Midas completed his task of building a shelter before nightfall.
[Congratulations! You have completed the Primary Objective: Establish Shelter Before Nightfall.]
[You have obtained a new blueprint in your [Blueprints] tab.]
Upon checking, Midas noticed a new blueprint indeed.
[Blueprints]
>[Fortified Wooden Spike Wall]
'Hmm... let me get more details on this.' Midas mused this in his head, subconsciously commanding the system.
[Blueprints]
>[Fortified Wooden Spike Wall]
>[Description: A wall made of wooden spikes. 300 x 300 meters in length. The wall has four watch towers on each corner, and two entrances at the southern and northern sides.]
Midas was pleasantly surprised by this.
'That's... big. Big enough for a small village! But to get the materials for all that... it would take me weeks, if not months! Plus... what would I house inside? The system seems to want to make me a ruler of a domain already, but who shall I rule? I've spawned on an island with seemingly no humans. Not even any other type of creature I could possibly conquer. It's just a bunch of bugs and beasts for all I know...'
During this time, Midas had also used the few sheets of chitin he salvaged from the Giant Mosquito and donned himself a new set of armor.
Chitin Armor, fortified more so around the joints of the body--but loosely covering his entire torso and lower body.
*RUSTLE*
Midas' eyes shot up at the tree tops, 'That same sound again...' His brows furrowed, 'Something is here... watching me.' He silently stepped back, his eyes staring like a hawk at any movement above him.
He backed up against a tree, making sure nothing could ambush him from behind.
Another rustle sounded, this time from the tree branches right above him.
By the time he looked up, all he could see was the green knuckles of a goblin mere inches from his face.
The punch from the goblin landed clean on Midas' lower jaw, instantly knocking him unconscious.
"W-wait, Grem, you fool!" The flat-nosed goblin screamed with terror.
The pointy-nosed goblin, Grem, turned and faced the flat-nosed goblin with a confused look.
"What's wrong, Gool? I thought we were meant to capture him. Don't worry, I made sure not to injure his pretty little face." Grem turned and stared at Midas' unconscious face.
His pretty, pretty face. The one with clean, white flesh." His mouth began to water.
"Stop your drooling!" Gool exclaimed, "You fool... we were first meant to verify if he is the Player or not! Now even I'm suspicious."
"What!? Why? What makes you think he isn't a Player?"
"We know nothing about these players. They come from different planets from those of our own, let alone a different island or region. All we beasts have ever known is this island. This Player, however, was treated by Commander Dorhal as if he were Sergalas himself! Such a brute that could even put fear in the heart of the commander... hell, even in the heart of the ruler! How could he be so easily ambushed and knocked out?"
Grem grunted in frustration as he heard this, "Ergh... you're right. What if he isn't the Player? Lord Dorhal surely wouldn't forgive us if we brought back a normal boy. Let's wait... wait until he wakes up to check before taking him back."
The two goblins had made their decision. However, they surely weren't going to stay in the player's base.
They might not have been the smartest creatures, but they at least knew to be cautious.
The two goblins began trekking east through the jungle with Midas on their shoulders, his hands and feet tied together with thick vine rope.
They trekked for a couple of hours. During this time, Midas woke up once. However, in his confusion and delusion, he screamed at the top of his lungs...The scene was almost comedic.
Midas's high-pitched scream even shocked the goblins, who panicked as they heard the sound.
"WHERE AM I!? WHAT IS THIS!?" Midas screamed, adrenaline surging through his veins as his heart nearly beat out of his chest.
"W-what should we do!? Verify!?" Grem exclaimed, bewildered.
"I don't know! Just make him shut up!" Gool retorted, blocking his ears shut, "Hurry, before anything big hears us!"
Grem grabbed a rock and hit Midas across the side of his noggin, knocking him out cold again.
A small drop of blood trickled down the side of his forehead, falling to the floor before exploding in a red splatter.
Seeing this, the two goblins swallowed their spit.
"We..." Gool paused, his eyes enthralled at the blood, "Must complete this mission. There is no room for failure."
He looked up at Grem, who seemed to still be bewitched by Midas' blood.
"Come on, Grem... let's make it to the pillars. Nothing dangerous ever comes there, so it won't matter how much noise this bastard makes. We can take our time torturing him for answers if need be... and maybe a couple licks of blood afterward as a prize won't be too shabby..." Gool turned, walking eastward.
Grem grinned, chuckling as he followed along, "Haha... yes, yes, we shall! But first, the mission."
