Chapter 17 - Thunder's Judgment: The Flash Who Rewrote the Battle

[Denki's POV]

Nomu launched at me like a biological missile, its massive frame tearing through the air with terrifying speed. I was the nearest target, which meant I had about half a second to react.

'Great. Just great.'

I quickly activated Raijin Drive, yellow lightning erupting around me as the world shifted into slow motion. I grabbed both Shigaraki and Kurogiri's unconscious bodies—they weighed practically nothing at this speed—and relocated them a safe distance away from the impact zone.

'Can't have these two dying on me. Not yet, anyway.'

We needed them alive if I wanted to prove to everyone that All For One was real and orchestrating these attacks from the shadows. Thanks to my intervention, they hadn't gotten the chance to introduce themselves as the "League of Villains" or monologue about how Nomu was specifically engineered to kill All Might. But they could still be used as bait—living proof that would force All For One to expose himself. After all, the bastard had invested years into grooming this man-child. He wouldn't just abandon his pet project.

BOOOOOM!

The ground where I'd been standing exploded into debris and dust. Concrete chunks flew everywhere as Nomu's fist cratered the floor, creating a shockwave that rippled outward.

The creature let out a guttural, inhuman sound—something between a roar and a mechanical screech—and immediately pivoted toward me, tracking my new position with those dead, empty eyes.

'Oh, it's persistent. How fun.'

Before I could make my next move, I sensed three familiar presences closing in fast.

Aizawa-sensei landed in a defensive crouch, his capture weapon already unfurling, his bloodshot eyes locked on Nomu.

Bakugo descended with explosive propulsion, his palms crackling with fire and smoke, his face twisted into that signature feral grin.

Todoroki slid in on a path of ice, frost spreading beneath his feet, his heterochromatic eyes were cold and calculating.

"Kaminari!" Aizawa's voice cut through the chaos. "If I let you handle everything by yourself, it'll hurt my pride as both a teacher and a hero." His expression was dead serious. "You're the fastest person here—get to UA and inform them about the situation. We need backup immediately. I'm giving you proper instructions this time, so follow them."

Nomu immediately charged at Aizawa with single-minded focus.

Aizawa's eyes flared red, his hair floating upward as he activated Erasure. Nomu's movements stuttered slightly but it didn't stop. It kept coming, raising one massive fist to crush him.

Right before the blow connected, a massive wall of ice erupted from the ground, intercepting Nomu's attack.

Todoroki's voice was calm, "Sensei, watch out!"

Simultaneously, Bakugo launched himself at Nomu from the opposite angle, palms aimed directly at its exposed brain. "DIE, YOU UGLY BASTARD!"

BOOM!

The explosion engulfed Nomu's head in fire and smoke, the concussive force rattling the entire plaza.

When the smoke cleared, Nomu was... completely fine. A few scorch marks, maybe, but is ready strike again.

Aizawa landed a few feet away, "Bakugo! Todoroki! Get back! This thing is too dangerous!"

"LIKE HELL I'M BACKING DOWN!" Bakugo snarled, already preparing another blast. "If Kaminari can fight others and even dodge this thing, then so can I!"

Todoroki's ice spread across the ground, creating barriers and footholds. "Sensei, with all due respect, we're more useful here than running away. If Kaminari could take down seventy-five villains in two seconds, then three of us should be able to handle one creature."

Aizawa's eye twitched, but I could see the gears turning in his head. He understood the logic—better to have some heavy hitters fighting alongside him than to send them away and face this monster alone.

He turned his glare on me. "Fine! Then Kaminari, move your ass and get to UA! Now!"

I held up one hand with electricity crackling between my fingers. "Hold on, Sensei. I've got a better plan."

"Kaminari—"

"Just give me a few seconds. Trust me on this one."

But Nomu wasn't interested in waiting for us to finish our conversation.

It lunged again, moving with horrifying speed for something its size. Aizawa's eyes flared red, nullifying whatever Quirk it was trying to activate, but the thing still had its raw physical strength—and that was more than enough.

Todoroki threw up another ice wall, but Nomu smashed through it like paper.

Bakugo blasted it from the side, creating distance, but Nomu barely flinched.

Aizawa's capture weapon wrapped around its limbs, but the creature simply flexed and the reinforced cloth started to fray.

They were holding it back—barely—but it was clear they couldn't keep this up for long.

"I CAN FINISH THIS THING ALONE!" Bakugo roared, sweat dripping down his face as he launched another barrage of explosions. "GET OUT OF MY WAY!"

I ignored him—because of course I did—and turned toward my classmates who were still gathered near the entrance with Thirteen.

Todoroki's calm voice cut through the chaos as he created another ice barrier. "Kaminari, we can try to stall it, but we're going to need support soon. You need to do your thing on this one too."

He was right, of course.

I could finish Nomu quickly. Hell, I could've made sure Shigaraki went unconscious before he even finished his villain monologue. But I didn't do it. Why?

'Because I want to know where my limits are currently, and Nomu is the perfect test subject. I can use some of my more lethal attacks on it without holding back. No moral dilemmas and restraint. But for just pure combat data.'

Call me pragmatic and reckless. But I prefer "efficiently curious."

I deactivated Raijin Drive and blurred back to my classmates near the entrance.

The moment I appeared, everyone started talking at once.

"Denki, that was insane!" Mina grabbed my arm, practically vibrating with excitement. "You took down seventy-five guys in like two seconds! How did you even—"

"Kaminari-kun!" Midoriya was already mumbling, his notebook half-open. "The speed, the precision, the way you targeted the teleporter first—that was incredible strategic thinking and—"

"Yo, dude!" Eijiro grinned, bumping his hardened fist against my shoulder. "That was so manly! You just whoosh and they all went down and—"

It seemed that beating those guys made them breathe a sigh of relief, to the point that they forgot we still had the Nomu to deal with. But they were kids—it was okay. We could forgive them for forgetting.

I held up both hands, cutting off the excited chatter. "Alright, people, listen up. High alert time, so follow my instructions quickly."

The shift in my tone killed the celebration instantly. Everyone went quiet, their expressions turning serious.

I turned to Iida, who was standing at attention like the good class rep he was—or would've been if I hadn't stolen his thunder. "Iida, since you're the second fastest person here, I need you to run to UA and inform the teachers about the situation. We might need backup if more villains show up."

His eyes widened slightly. "More villains?"

"If those guys can teleport in out of nowhere, there's nothing stopping more from coming if they have another teleporter on standby," I explained. "We can't take that risk."

The excitement that had filled the group died completely, replaced by tense understanding.

Iida straightened, his expression becoming determined. He gave me a sharp nod and a formal bow. "Understood, Class President Kaminari-kun. I'll return with reinforcements as quickly as possible!"

He turned and sprinted toward the exit as his engines roaring to life, leaving a trail of displaced air in his wake.

I turned to Momo next, who immediately straightened despite the faint blush still coloring her cheeks. "Momo, I need you to create restraints for the seventy-five villains I took down. I knocked them out, but that doesn't mean they can't wake up easily." I gestured toward the groaning bodies scattered across the plaza. "Also create some anesthesia in case any of them start regaining consciousness. We need them asleep. Make the restraints with the hardest metal you can manage, and they need to be different sizes—everyone down there is built differently."

"Y-yes! Of course!" She nodded quickly, already lifting her shirt slightly to access the skin on her stomach, her Quirk activating with a soft glow.

I turned to Sero next. "Sero, use your tape to bind them too—extra protection and security. Double-wrap the bigger ones."

"Got it, Kaminari!" He gave me a thumbs up, already pulling tape from his elbows.

"Uraraka," I continued, "make the restraints and the villains lightweight so they can be moved easily. We need them all in one spot where we can guard them properly."

"Okay!" She nodded enthusiastically, her fingers already positioned for her Quirk.

I addressed the rest of the class. "Everyone else, help Momo restrain the villains and move them to one location where we can keep watch. We need to question them about their objectives later. This whole situation is way too suspicious—they knew our schedule, bypassed security, and jammed communications. This was planned."

Thirteen stepped forward, clearly about to protest or give her own instructions.

I cut her off politely but firmly. "Thirteen-san, I need you to keep an eye on both the students and the unconscious villains. The heavy hitters will deal with the remaining threat."

BOOOOOM!

Another massive explosion echoed from the plaza, followed by the sound of shattering ice. The noise was like a wake-up call.

Momo immediately jumped into action, her Quirk glowing as metal restraints began emerging from her skin. Emma was standing beside her, covering a wide grin while shaking slightly, her eyes locked on me with disturbing intensity.

'I really need to deal with her later. That look is creeping me out.'

I turned to Mineta, who was trembling slightly. "Mineta, pluck your balls and throw them at the villains."

"..."

Every single person turned to stare at me.

Mineta let out a high-pitched shriek and immediately covered his crotch with both hands, his face going pale. "WHAT?! KAMINARI, YOU PSYCHO! I'M NOT GONNA—"

"I meant the balls on your head that are sticky," I interrupted with a deadpan. "Not your family jewels, you idiot."

Mineta froze, then slowly lowered his hands, his face flooding with relief. "Oh. Oh. Right. Yeah, that makes way more sense."

Eijiro clapped me on the shoulder while grinning. "Dude, we seriously need to work on your phrasing."

"Noted." But I used that word to lighten the atmosphere a little and help them relax.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Midoriya moving toward the stairs, clearly planning to join Aizawa and the others in fighting Nomu.

I reached out and grabbed his shoulder, stopping him in his tracks. "Midoriya, you can't help there. I need you to stay here and handle the situation with the class."

His face twisted with frustration, his fists clenching. "But Kaminari-kun, I—I can help! I can use my Quirk and—"

"You can only use five percent of your power safely," I said while keeping my voice firm but not unkind. "And even that won't do much against that thing. From what I've observed, it has multiple Quirks and regeneration. Even if you went full power and broke every bone in your body, you wouldn't be able to stop it."

His jaw tightened, his eyes burning with helpless determination.

I softened my tone slightly. "I know this sounds harsh, Midoriya. I know you want to help—that's who you are. But staying here and helping our classmates coordinate is also important. In the future, you'll be strong enough to fight monsters like that. But right now? This isn't your fight. Don't take it the wrong way."

He clenched his fists so hard they trembled, his jaw working as he fought against his instincts. Finally, he gave a tight nod and stayed put, though his eyes never left the battle below.

I turned back to address everyone. "Alright, listen up. We need to stay on alert. Don't let your guard down yet. Even if I took down one teleporter, there might be more. And since we can't use communications until Iida comes back with backup, we're on our own." I paused, letting that sink in. "So be careful, guys."

The tension in the group ratcheted up another notch, shoulders tightening, expressions becoming guarded.

But I smiled—wide and confident—and gave them a thumbs up. "But don't worry too much! I'm gonna go deal with that thing Sensei's fighting and come back real quick. And if more villains show up?" I shrugged. "I'll just have to beat them down again. It's simple."

I made sure to project absolute confidence, radiating security and calm. I wanted them to feel safe, even in this insane situation.

I gave them a casual two-fingered salute while grinning. "I'll be back... in a flash."

Then I activated Raijin Drive and vanished in a streak of yellow lightning.

...

[Third Person POV]

Midoriya stood frozen for a moment, his fists still clenched in frustration. Then he took a deep breath, unclenched his hands, and immediately dove into helping with full commitment.

He rushed over to where Momo was creating restraints, grabbing a pair of reinforced cuffs. "Yaoyorozu-san, I'll help distribute these!"

Uraraka, Tsuyu, and several others also sprang into action, moving with surprising coordination.

Emma Akane stared at the spot where Denki had vanished, her eyes filled with pure fascination, a slight smile playing on her lips.

"Emma-chan, ribbit," Tsuyu called, her tongue wrapped around an unconscious villain. "We need help gathering them over here."

Emma blinked before snapping out of her daze, and nodded. "Right. Sorry."

The class moved like a well-oiled machine. Momo created restraints in various sizes—metal cuffs, reinforced straps, tape-like bindings similar to Aizawa's capture weapon. Sweat beaded on her forehead from the effort, but she didn't slow down.

Sero worked alongside her, wrapping villains in layers of tape for additional security.

Uraraka touched each restrained villain, activating her Quirk to make them weightless. "Okay, they're light now! Someone grab them!"

Ojiro, Kirishima, and Midoriya moved the floating bodies to a central location near the entrance, stacking them carefully but efficiently.

Mina used her acid to create a slick path beneath her feet, skating across the plaza while dragging unconscious villains behind her. "This is kinda fun! In a weird, post-battle cleanup kinda way!"

Tsuyu used her tongue to pull villains from farther areas, her movements quick and precise. "Ribbit. We should organize them by size. It'll make guarding them easier."

Mineta, despite his earlier panic, was actually being useful. He plucked the sticky spheres from his head and threw them with surprising accuracy, binding three villains together at once so they could be moved as a group. "See?! I'm helping! I'm totally helping!"

Thirteen watched the entire operation unfold, genuinely amazed at the level of coordination.

She turned to the pink-haired girl working nearby. "Excuse me... what's the name of that boy in the red suit? He's an excellent leader. He has real potential to become a top Pro Hero."

Mina looked up, her smile brightening immediately. "Oh, that's Kaminari Denki! He's my childhood friend!" She puffed up with pride. "He's also our class president. And I'm totally sure he's gonna become the most lovable and popular hero in the future. Just watch!"

Thirteen nodded slowly while watching the students work together seamlessly under the organizational structure Denki had set up in less than a minute. "I think you might be right about that."

...

[Denki's POV]

I arrived at the battle in a flash of lightning and immediately began assessing the situation.

Nomu was being barely contained—and "barely" was being generous.

Aizawa's capture weapon was wrapped around its limbs, his eyes glowing red as he maintained Erasure, nullifying Nomu's Quirks. Sweat poured down his face from the strain.

Todoroki had encased Nomu's lower body in a massive block of ice, but cracks were already spreading across the surface.

Bakugo was launching explosion after explosion at its head, each blast powerful enough to level a building—and Nomu was just tanking them.

"Don't worry, guys!" I called out with electricity crackling in my eyes as Raijin Drive flared around me. "I'll finish this fast!"

I reached into my utility belt and pulled out a single coin—perfectly balanced, aerodynamic, and about to become a supersonic projectile.

I aimed carefully at Nomu's center mass and grinned. "Eat this, you bird-brained freak."

I flicked the coin with my thumb, channeling electricity through my arm, using electromagnetic acceleration to launch it at impossible speeds.

BOOOOOM!

The coin became a streak of light, covering the distance in a microsecond.

Nomu's arm exploded in a spray of purple flesh and black blood, completely obliterated from the shoulder down. The creature let out that horrible mechanical screech and stumbled sideways, its remaining arm flailing.

But even as I watched, the destroyed arm started regrowing—muscle fibers knitting together, bone reforming and skin stretching over raw tissue in a second. 'Regeneration. Of course.'

I looked back to see Aizawa-sensei closed his eyes for two seconds.

"Kaminari!" Todoroki shouted while creating another ice barrier as Nomu thrashed. "Any bright ideas?!"

"YEAH, BLAST IT UNTIL IT STOPS MOVING!" Bakugo roared while launching another explosive barrage.

Aizawa landed a few feet away while breathing hard and his eyes bloodshot from overuse. "We need to pin it down somehow! There are zones in this facility that could be used to contain it until backup arrives!" He shot me a sharp look. "Kaminari, please tell me you sent Iida for backup!"

"Already done, Sensei," I confirmed while pulling out multiple coins and tossing them into the air around Nomu. "But you guys might want to take a step back for this next part."

Aizawa's eyes widened. He immediately lashed out with his capture weapon, snagging Bakugo—who was still yelling about fighting—and yanking him backward.

Todoroki created an ice slide and skated himself and Aizawa to a safe distance.

"HEY! LET ME GO, DAMMIT! I'M NOT DONE YET!" Bakugo struggled against the restraints.

I ignored him, focusing on the twenty coins now floating in the air, positioned at different angles around Nomu. 'Time to test this thing's durability.'

I activated Raijin Drive fully, the world shifting into Flash Time and moved.

In the span of a single second—from the perspective of normal time—I repositioned myself twenty times, flicking each coin with electromagnetic acceleration, turning them into hypersonic projectiles from twenty different angles.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The explosions overlapped, creating a symphony of destruction.

Chunks of Nomu's body exploded outward—arms, legs, torso, shoulders. Purple flesh sprayed everywhere. Black blood painted the ground.

When the smoke began to clear slowly, Nomu was still standing—but heavily damaged. Its entire body was riddled with massive holes, regeneration struggling to keep up with the sheer amount of trauma.

'It seems Sensei can't see us, thanks to the smoke and dust created by the Railgun earlier. Because of that, he can't nullify its Quirk. But it's perfect for me.'

Before it could fully regenerate, I moved again. This time, I didn't hold back.

I accelerated to Mach speed—breaking the sound barrier with a thunderous crack—and closed the distance in a microsecond.

My fist, moving faster than the speed of sound, carrying kinetic energy equivalent to a small meteor impact, connected with Nomu's torso.

The air itself screamed. A visible shockwave exploded outward from the point of impact, shattering the remaining ice, cracking the ground, sending debris flying in all directions.

Thanks to my trained body, Raijin Drive, and the EM field protecting me, I didn't take any damage from it. Of course, I'd already tested this move but just not against a real target.

Nomu's entire ribcage caved in, its torso compressing like a crushed soda can.

But I wasn't done. I channeled electricity through my entire body, concentrating it into my palms, shaping it into a concentrated blast of pure electrical destruction.

Twenty million volts—comparable to Enel's signature attack from One Piece—condensed into a single yellowish-white wave of lightning and I released it point-blank.

CRAAAACK!

The lightning wave engulfed Nomu completely, turning the creature into a living conduit. Electricity arced across its body, frying nerves, cooking tissue, overwhelming its regeneration.

Its exposed brain—already trying to heal from the Railgun barrage—didn't stand a chance.

The brain matter vaporized, piece by piece, until only a charred fragment remained. I deactivated Flash Time, and the world snapped back to normal speed.

Nomu stood there, swaying, its body riddled with holes, electricity crackling across its ruined form. Its regeneration was trying—desperately trying—to repair the damage, but it was moving at a crawl now, struggling against the residual electrical interference.

'Not enough. It's still moving.'

I raised both hands, channeling another surge of power.

Two massive waves of yellow lightning erupted from my palms, converging on Nomu from both sides.

BOOOOM!

The creature's entire upper body became a mass of holes and charred flesh, electricity arcing violently across its frame. It collapsed to one knee, unable to support its own weight, regeneration finally grinding to a halt.

'Damn, this thing is tough. But it's perfect for a training dummy. If that doctor was a businessman instead of a villain, I'd totally buy a few Nomus for practice.'

I grinned while cracking my knuckles. "Alright, let's try out some new moves."

I moved again, appearing directly in front of Nomu's kneeling form.

I cocked back my fist, channeling lightning into my arm until it glowed yellow-hot, then drove it forward with the full force of a thunderbolt.

CRAAAAASH!

The punch connected with Nomu's chest, and the impact sounded like an actual thunderclap. The creature's torso practically imploded, its body launched backward, skidding across the ground and leaving a trench in its wake.

From a distance, I could hear shocked voices.

Aizawa and Todoroki were watching with wide eyes, their expressions frozen in disbelief.

Bakugo had stopped struggling against Aizawa's capture weapon, his mouth hanging open but clunched his fist.

A few of my classmates had arrived at the edge of the plaza, drawn by the noise. Midoriya was the most noteworthy among them, looking like he was seriously questioning his life choices.

I smiled, electricity crackling around me like a living storm. 'Let's end this with a bang.'

I now stood a few feet away from Nomu's broken, painfully slowly regenerating body and took a deep breath.

The intensity of my electricity increased exponentially, yellow lightning becoming almost white, crackling with raw, barely contained power.

This wasn't just electricity anymore. This was lightning.

I inhaled deeply, pulling in air, channeling every ounce of power into my lungs, shaping it, condensing it, preparing to unleash devastation.

"Lightning Dragon's Roar!"

I opened my mouth and roared.

A massive torrent of lightning exploded from my throat—a concentrated beam of pure electrical destruction, wide enough to engulf Nomu completely, bright enough to turn the entire USJ facility into daylight.

The attack was inspired by Laxus's Lightning Dragon's Roar from Fairy Tail—fifty percent of my total power, condensed and focused into a single wave of annihilation.

The beam screamed through the air, the sound deafening, the light blinding. It engulfed Nomu completely.

The creature didn't even have time to screech before it was obliterated—every cell, every molecule, completely vaporized in an instant.

The beam didn't stop there.

It continued forward, tearing through the ground, carving a massive trench, shattering the reinforced walls of the USJ, and finally exploding out through the far side of the facility in a brilliant flash.

The entire building shook, the ground trembling like an earthquake, debris raining down from the ceiling.

When I finally stopped and closed my mouth, smoke rising from my lips, there was a perfectly straight path of destruction carved through the USJ.

And Nomu was gone. Not unconscious or injured but gone. Erased from existence.

I stood there for a moment, slightly breathing hard, electricity still crackling faintly around me.

I turned around to see my classmates, Aizawa, Todoroki, and Bakugo all standing completely frozen, their eyes wide, their mouths hanging open in identical expressions of absolute shock.

I scratched the back of my head sheepishly. "Uh... maybe I got a little carried away?"

"..."

Then—

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" Bakugo finally exploded. "YOU JUST DELETED THAT THING! YOU DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE ASHES!"

Before anyone could respond, we heard a booming voice from above. "I AM HERE!"

The ceiling of the USJ shattered, and All Might descended in his signature heroic landing, creating a massive impact crater where he touched down.

He straightened up, his cape billowing dramatically, his smile wide and confident. Then he looked around.

At the seventy-five unconscious villains restrained and piled near the entrance.

At Shigaraki and Kurogiri, also unconscious and separated from the others. Then at massive path of destruction I'd just carved through the facility. Later at the distinct lack of any immediate threat.

His smile faltered slightly, confusion flickering across his features.

He turned to Aizawa, "Aizawa! I'm sorry for not arriving earlier! Where are the villains?"

"..."

No one knew how to respond to that.

Aizawa just stared at All Might with his eye twitching.

Todoroki looked between the destruction and All Might with blank expression. Bakugo was still processing what he'd just witnessed.

Midoriya looked like his brain had short-circuited. Mina started giggling, then covered her mouth.

I raised my hand slowly. "Uh... Sensei? We kinda already handled it."

All Might blinked once and then blinked again. His smile became increasingly strained as the reality of the situation sank in.

'Yeah,' I thought with a small smile. 'This is gonna be fun to explain.'
