Chapter 11 - Chapitre 11: defeat

As the battle raged on, most of us unconscious and others running out of energy, victory seemed increasingly unlikely in the face of Raven's superiority. We were far too weak to defeat such an opponent. The illusion of our strength had blinded us; we believed ourselves capable of great things, when in reality we were still just children. In desperation, Nozomi appeared before Raven, rising from the ground. But was it really the Nozomi we knew?

Raven, surprised or on his guard, backed away from Nozomi as soon as he appeared before him. Kael and Harris, lying on the ground, exhausted, did not understand what was happening. They were confused; the person in front of them gave off the aura of a completely different person.

"You again. I congratulate you for getting back up after the blow I dealt you, but you'll regret showing up in front of me again. I'm not in the mood anymore, so get out of here or I'll kill you, kid," Raven said to Nozomi, looking very serious.

Faced with Raven's provocations, Nozomi didn't move a muscle and remained silent, never once taking his eyes off Raven. He seemed unconscious, controlled by some unknown force.

"You asked for it, kid!" said Raven before firing a powerful flamethrower straight at Nozomi. The power of the fire and the heat would have destroyed everything in its path, but as the smoke and embers cleared, only Nozomi's silhouette appeared. Intact, despite the destructive fire that had hit him head-on, he emerged without a scratch.

Harris, shocked, whispered to Kael, "Kael, are you seeing the same thing I am? What's happening to Nozomi?"

Kael replied, "I don't know, Harris, this situation is completely beyond me."

Raven didn't let himself be discouraged and propelled himself into the sky with his fire, then overwhelmed Nozomi with multiple fireballs that headed straight for him. But Nozomi surprised everyone by flying into the sky, dodging all the fireballs.

The two in the sky began an aerial battle with Raven levitating with fire coming out of his feet and Nozomi with his newly discovered ability to fly.

The battle between the two raged on. Raven launched increasingly powerful fire attacks, including projectiles, flamethrowers, and even vines of fire. Nozomi simply dodged or absorbed Raven's attacks without the slightest difficulty, still not saying a word since he had returned with his empty gaze, surrounded by a layer of green aetherium all around him.

As Raven launched a huge fireball, Nozomi blocked the attack with a simple sweep of his hand. However, Raven took advantage of the fact that the fireball was blocking Nozomi's field of vision to get closer to him. Once within reach, he condensed the fire in his right hand and punched Nozomi.

But even though the punch had indeed hit Nozomi, he remained motionless, not moving an inch. He grabbed Raven's hand and threw him onto the building, sending him crashing through dozens of floors below.

Suddenly, an explosion occurred in the building. Caused by Raven, the heat of his fire increased sharply, incinerating everything around him and leaving only his blue flames visible.

Nozomi rushed at him and the two fought a fierce battle in the building, destroying everything and moving from floor to floor. Faced with an explosion from Raven, Nozomi was thrown outside, where the battle continued. The two flew over the building with Raven bombarding Nozomi with attacks from all directions, attacks that increasingly weakened the structure of the building.

Raven rose to the top of the building, where he shouted with all his might. A phenomenal amount of blue flames burst from his body, gathering to form a gigantic dragon of fire, ten meters high. Raven shouted with a smile, "Kid! Prepare to face my most powerful attack!"

Nozomi, faced with Raven's power, said: "You say you're acting to change the world, to make it better. But the reality is that you're only satisfying your own desires. Your fire is certainly extraordinarily intense, but it spreads only fear and destruction. It is in no way a source of warmth and life. You don't control it, it doesn't obey you in any way, it spreads as much as it wants, destroying everything in its path. I won't let you continue in your madness, Raven." "

Suddenly, in a matter of moments, Nozomi disappeared from Raven's field of vision before reappearing above him.

As soon as Raven saw Nozomi above him, he shouted, "Stop looking down on me like that, Nozomi!" and he hurled his fire dragon at Nozomi.

"Disappear, Raven," said Nozomi. He reached out his hand and released a beam of elemental aetherium that swept away Raven's dragon in an instant. Nozomi's attack continued before hitting Raven head-on and smashing him into the building, then hitting the ground after passing through all the floors. The power of the attack that struck the ground created something resembling an earthquake, causing cracks to appear in the ground and leaving a huge hole more than ten meters in diameter in the building.

On the roof of the building, Kael and Harris had recovered the unconscious Aria and Shinrei, carrying them on their shoulders while Nozomi fought.

Unfortunately, after the power Nozomi had unleashed and after defeating Raven, the green aura surrounding him dissipated and he fainted, falling into the crater of the building in free fall.

"Nozomi!" Harris shouted. Kael gave him Aria and ordered, "Go with Shinrei and Aria, the building will collapse in a few moments. I'll take care of getting Nozomi back." He ran towards the hole and jumped without hesitation, while the teleportation device activated and teleported the others into the ship.

Once aboard the ship, Harris asked Elyra, "Elyra, teleport Nozomi and Kael too, they're still down there."

Unfortunately, Elyra replied, "I'm sorry, Harris, but right now Kael and Nozomi are surrounded by debris. Under these conditions, I can't teleport them, it could put them in danger. We'll just have to trust them for now."

Harris, very worried about his brothers, whispered in a trembling voice, "Kael, save Nozomi and come back as soon as you can." "

Kael, falling freely, descending floor by floor through the hole Nozomi had created, tried to dive down to catch Nozomi. As soon as he saw Nozomi, he shouted with all his might, "Nozomi! It's me, Kael, wake up!"

Nothing worked, Nozomi was still unconscious, but Kael didn't give up and continued to call out to him. "Nozomi, you can hear my voice, can't you? Come on, bro, open your eyes, we still need you. It can't end like this. Wake up, Nozomi!"

Kael's voice finally reached Nozomi and brought him back to consciousness. He opened his eyes and shouted, "Kael!" He understood the situation and reached out his hand for Kael to grab.

Kael managed to grab Nozomi's hand. However, even with their hands clasped, they were still falling into the void. Kael asked Nozomi, "You still have some strength left, don't you? I have no energy left, but you can save us. Send a projectile, the force of resistance will propel us sideways into one of the floors."

Nozomi drew on his last remaining strength and launched one final attack that had enough power to propel Kael and Nozomi sideways.

Unfortunately, the building, having suffered heavy damage during the fight, collapsed, falling to one side. Kael narrowly managed to hold on to a pole with his left hand and held Nozomi with his right.

"Nozomi, I'm going to throw you. Break the window that will take us outside." "

Kael spun around to gain momentum and threw Nozomi at the window. With a kick, Nozomi broke the window and reached out his hand to grab Kael. He pushed off the pole with his feet and jumped. With his hand outstretched, Nozomi grabbed Kael's hand and pulled him up.

Our two young heroes were on the walls of the building in front of the city landscape devastated by the collapse of the building and by the cries of the citizens who were heard. Nozomi pronounced with trembling lips. "Is all this because of me?!"

In the shelter on the walls, Elyra carried out the teleportation of Kael and Nozomi on the ship, unable to do anything to prevent the collapse of the building on the city.

Reimu Hikarizuki, in his kingdom located in another dimension, had observed the entire course of the fight. He rose from his throne, stepped forward and couldn't help but laugh.

He said: "You can enjoy your victory, my dear Yuutaka. After decades, he is back. The elemental master is finally back. Nova, your death will have disappointed me, but I learned valuable information. I will get out of this prison that you have created for me, after that I will kill your children and take from your son the elemental power. What an irony of fate that it is your son who has been chosen to be the new savior. Unfortunately, I will take his power from him and grant my wish that you have always prevented me from fulfilling. "

Reimu walked the halls and came across his first son, Shinsei Hikarizuki. "Hello, father, you seem in good spirits. Did you hear good news? "

Reimu replied to him: "Indeed, but I am in a hurry, I don't have time to lose."

"Wait, Father! Shion is training right now, he would really like you to come teach him, he would be pleased to see you. "

"You don't understand when I tell you that I am in a hurry. I have no time to waste with this child."

Reimu left, leaving Shinsei alone. Once his father left, he pronounced in a black and angry look: "This child, as you say, is your son. How can you be so horrible to your own son? "

He arrived in a room with soldiers and ordered: "I want the gate opened as soon as possible. That everyone works on opening the gate! "

A much bigger threat seemed to be getting closer and closer to us. But today, regret and guilt were all we had left.

After the collapse of the building, a total number of 100 dead and 500 injured was deplored. Raven's dead body was found in the rubble and with him dozens of others. Dozens of innocent victims perished, others injured and others lost their homes.

We are the only ones responsible for it. Our trust had blinded us and the price to pay is the death of innocents who asked for nothing. Our weakness and incapacity will have been the cause of misfortune.

Elyra, to protect us and keep our secret, hacked all the servers in the world, deleting all the data that contained images of the fight and what really happened. This event was finally announced as a supernatural event. The world considered that what happened was due to an earthquake.

Even if the world remained in ignorance, we five possessed the truth. We were indeed the cause of this misfortune. These thoughts haunted us and while the weight of responsibility had caught up with us, we fled, turning our backs on our destinies and choices. Where nothing depends on us.
