Esme's POV
I hadn't got the chance to tell Levine about the plan. Was there need to? I wanted him to watch out for news about the Rogue Alpha King's son.
But with the spies here, I could deduce that they had already made plans to form a unit that would hunt for him. The Duke of Deception would also assist.
The rogue hummed, and my heartbeat quickened. "It is visitation day. You got visits."
They were simple words, but they sounded so unrefined coming from him.
"Yes, from my village," Levine said simply.
I held my chest, keeping my head down. The spy still stood there, and I couldn't tell if he had spotted me or not.
"Take care, then," he said, and slowly walked away.
A deep exhale left my chest.
"Does he scare you?"
Levine's warm breath tickled my ears.
I straightened up. "No. He just looks so… unkempt that it is scary." What an excuse.
