Lumiere's POV
An expression of relief replaced the cautiousness of the white-haired girl's face after I responded. Iris looked the same.
Had she been worried about something so trivial? I had to improve my image in front of her.
She pulled a chair for the girl before seating. The girl whispered thanks and sat beside her.
I wondered why I didn't do it for her before I returned to my seat. I did want to keep a good distance.
I slowed the thoughts in my head and tried to form meaningful conversations instead.
"I heard you came to see Levine. He went on his first mission into the villages. Since he will be here soon, you could wait here for him."
She nodded. "We will wait. We mostly came to give him gifts from his friends and well-wishers." She raised the basket she held.
So it wasn't a handmade package as I thought, but an ensemble from different people?
"That doesn't make it any less special. Ask how long she had known Levine."
That was too forward.
