Chapter 13 - The end of an empty dream

DUFF!

A dull yet heavy piercing white light shone down. The light illuminated Alex, the orbs and...

"But if gonna be honest..."

Somethings that symbolized the end of this empty dream.

But... this might make one wonder... what the heck were these... somethings?

Beings like Omek? Or statues? Or even bigger orbs perhaps?

But if this was so, he wouldn't have had to question it like this?

Well, it was simple really.

What lain before him or rather on his left, right and front were not three, but six alien figures whose appearance could stun even a blind person.

On his front, a being that seemed almost... human sat in front of him on an ivory thrown. Clad in a coat, necktie and trousers that seemed even whiter than the morning clouds that drifted and absorbed the sun's effortlessly, shoes and a shirt that were jet black and looked if they part of the void themselves. Its skin was a pale earth, and it seemed to stagger at a monstrous yet casual height of about 30 meters tall.

The being's head rested on its left back and so its head hanged, hiding its face from Alex.

The being didn't export any radiance of the sort and yet... Alex felt comfortable like as if he were being called to a warm and sunbathed garden. This was truly occult situation for Alex who just moments ago experienced the unfathomable.

But then again, at this point nothing could just merely faze him now. For he had been through enough that not even a brain-dead person could survive.

Alex wasn't bothered by these thoughts that tried to pique his attention, but that's when his eyes snapped back at the being right before him as he noticed that its hair was a deep brown that was cut short and wild at the front and slicked back at the end. It wore a white raffia planter that bore three strange yet familiar devices on it.

Alex's eyes squinted and his thoughts raced as he observed it closely and opened his mouth to say, "Is that a cr-"

Tat, tat, tat!

"Huh?"

Alex's head snapped to his right and all his questions about the hat faded as fast as he had been disrupted. And speaking of disruption...

"A pebble?"

The sound that would have been familiarize by even a 100-year-old clattered and stole Alex's attention as his reaction was caused by the immediate recognition of the sound.

Small, disordered, rapid and yet... strangely affiliating.

But in what way?

For Aled had no time to think as his damned eyes betrayed him once again and unconsciously looked for the cause of the sound to his right.

He's eyes darted.

His pupils contracted and expanded.

And finally after a short yet painful search for what he's hoped would be a clue that would draw him nearer to his freedom.

"Ah!"

A disappointed grunt escaped his throat as he gazed upon another humanoid being that sat on a dark gemstone throne. Clad in fairly baggy cloud pants that were tucked into polished leather black boots that had multiple straps, a white buttoned shirt with a foggy texture that was draped over with a charcoal coat that seemed to possess what eerily mirrored badges of some sort.

Its hands rested on the handles its throne and breaths just like the one before Alex were nei.

"You guys... y'all must really thrones this much to be found sitting in them from one guy to another, huh?" He mused monotonously.

"...."

But no answer came. For these beings... what are they?

Alex mused as he stroked his chin with a raised brow and slight frown at the corners of his left lip.

He turned his head and looked at the being before him and on his right.

He looked to his front and then right again. And front and right again. And front and right again. And front and right again.... each time his brows furrowed deeper and so did his frown and chin stroking which became more vigorous the more he looked to his front and right.

'There's something strange... yet oddly familiar between these two?'

Alex thought in wonder.

Could it be that, like the orbs they portrayed similar colors and mixtures of the sort?

One, simple answer to his first question was yes.

Like the obsidian night and white and or pale yellow glowing orbs that both had mixed floral patterns of one orb color on the other.

This... was indeed very easy to spot on to. But what made him question it then? Was it curiosity, blight, wonder or interest?

No.

For Alex had two questions in mind. The first was a vague clarity that he had to make in order to deeper understand to occurrence of the current events taking place.

From a little gossip, to nearly dying, to Omek, to this place and now towards the end of this all.... he thought his second question which was a supplement of his first.

'Is this all.... like some of trail or something?'

.....

Nothing followed after this thought. Not a hum from the orbs nor a flinch from the beings or whatever they were.

Just a ghostly silence that could one's skin crawling and their bones shuddering from the indifferent coldness that enveloped this empty cold void.... no.

This empty cold "dream."

Alex uttered instinctively as he gazed from his right to his front.

He frowned and sneaked, "Psht, damn useless statues", as his body turned almost out of pure instinct and his gaze....

It fell upon something.

It reflected in his eyes and this this time he...

"Hahaha.... finally! Atleast isn't seating on a damn chair."

He exclaimed with a profound tone as we now see that to his left another humanoid being sat, but.... on the ground this time.

This was truly puzzling excluding the entirety of the situation. So far the two and even Omek were sitted on thrones.... could it be a difference in rank, or one in power, or one in the self sense of right?....

These questions ran about in his mind, but not in a way that it could threaten his mental health once again. Rather more like a hard time deciding on which answer of the God knows how many you got for a specific math question in a math test.

And so this was truly a puzzling case.

"Meh, it must be to show discipline, right?"

He thought as his conscious and focus snapped back at the being on his left.

It sat on the ground, its left leg upright and its right leg lain opposite it on the ground. Its back slightly crouched, its left hand rested on the raised left leg and right hand lain down in the rested right as its head rested on its left hand hiding its face as well concealing its identity.

Clad in baggy fog grey pants that bore black cloud like patterns that shone effortlessly, tucked into tight long black boots that were laced with silver wave patterns. It wore wore something similar to a silver turtle neck shirt that hugged its body and draped over it was an even larger shirt dyed in a deep black hue whose sleeves were broad and long enough to cover up to below its elbows, wrapped by what looked to be a belt that made of a shiny durable fiber and strapped together by a shiny silver buckle that could barely be seen by Alex.

He didn't try to make much of what they wore or how they sat and looked like.

No, he was making more important observations of them and the orbs as he then slowly pieced things together and thought.

'Are they for me?'

'Or..... are they me?'

He thought as a frown perked up on his face solemnly ruining the calmness that he struggled to maintain.

But why was he angry in the first place?

Could it be that his patience was running thin?

Or that all the confusion he'd going through before got to him once more?

No.

For if he were to get give himself away to such, he would've already run mad once more.

So, what pissed him off then?

Well, you see it was.... confusion.

"Uh.... I'm so pissed."

He said as gritted teeth fiercely.

"Uhhhhhh!" He groaned loudly as his body trembled and his clenched fists began to pale at his knuckles.

His veins bulged at his neck and his head so much so that it seemed like they could explode at any minute.

Alex slowly and forcefully turned his head upward as his furious gaze fell on the orbs as uttered, "Get down here in three."

He began a sudden count down as we wonder, what kind of confusion had to make him angry now of all times?

It was his perception of things. You see Alex has a habit of snapping when he gets confused. Whether it be in class, or at home, or even while eating. The smallest bit of confusion could get to burst in an outrage like an animal.

"Two."

He said with a steadily descending hum in his voice.

As the atmosphere began to tense up and strangely yet sudden his body began to loosen as his fists unclenched and his eyelids dropped, but not fully.

His aura maintains a burning fury that his body could not as what was left of what one could see in his eyes was a cold and dead like indifference that one could say 'has never been seen before.'

His mouth moved his head dropped and so did his tone as he then uttered, "O-"

Wuuuuuuuu!

The orbs hummed.

A thunderous and rhythmic tone that could shatter mountains, cities or even the sky itself.

The orbs danced as they descended upon slowly and gracefully.

And as if in order the white placed itself at his front, the black on his right and the dull silver one on his left.

He looked around as each one landed just at his shoulder level.

For a while there was nothing but a cold and indifferent silence that filled the room as Alex stared at the orb in front of him.

He wanted to ask himself for what was to happen now.

But before he could even think of trying to think so...

Wu!

A hum.

SWOOSH!

The orbs to his left and right gathered right in front of him staying about half an inch away from each other.

He thought he was to wait again for something to happen but,

[Welcome Alexander Hawkings.]

They spoke uniformly with an almost systematic voice.

"To where?"

He mused with a raised a brow as tons of guesses raced through his mind.

Could it be another planet? Another universe?

Or am I in hell? No, I haven't been screwing around for a long time.

And I pray too so... no.

But then what could-

Wu!

The orbs hummed in unison once more before speaking, [Master Alex, is not allowed to strain his mind so please don't overthink.]

'Master???!'

"Then what are you? Why are you only speaking now? What is this place and-"

Wu!

[Please, let us answer your questions now.]

Alex was confused annoyed and yet eager to learn and so he shut mouth and nodded in response.

[Good, now what is your first question?]

"You were welcoming me somewhere, right?"

[Yes.]

"Well, I just asking... to where?"

[Were welcoming you.... to end of... your 1st dream.]
