Chapter 138 - The Four Secrets

Beyond the Primary Level

The high-altitude winds whipped through the mist-shrouded training grounds atop the ancient peaks. Team Karna stood before their grand instructor—Bhishma, known across the realms as the God of Weapons. His towering presence exuded an aura of absolute mastery, a living legend who had mastered every form of combat created by gods and mortals alike.

Bhishma surveyed the young warriors standing before him, his gaze lingering on Karna and Arjun Dev.

"You both have done well to master the fundamental basics," Bhishma began, his deep voice carrying through the mountain air like rolling thunder. "Karna, Arjun Dev... you know the primary skills of marksmanship. But if you wish to survive the coming storms, you must push past your limits. As of today, you both are entering the Warrior Level of archers."

Karna stepped forward, adjusting the strap of his heavy bow. His eyes gleamed with intense curiosity. "Warrior Level? Master Bhishma, what does that level require? What skills must we learn?"

Bhishma folded his arms, his posture immovable as a mountain. "In the ancient art of Villu Vidiya—the sacred science of the bow—there are four advanced martial arts categories you must master to ascend to true warrior status."

Bhishma held up his hand, extending four fingers as he began to explain:

"First is Mantra Mukta. This is the art of fusing your inner energy with holy or dark chants. It allows an archer to channel a divine or dark mantra directly into the bow string, unleashing an arrow carrying devastating spiritual force."

He uncurled his second finger. "Second is Amukta. This is a psychological mastery of the weapon. Under this technique, you do not even need to release the string or fire an arrow. By merely drawing your bow and locking your intent onto your target, your killing aura becomes so terrifying that it instills absolute fear into the heart of your enemy, breaking their spirit before a shot is ever fired."

Bhishma raised his third finger. "Third is Mukta Mukta. This is the art of absolute ambidexterity. A true warrior level archer cannot rely on a single dominant hand. You must train your body to aim, pull, and release with equal, lethal precision using both your right hand and your left hand in the heat of battle."

Finally, Bhishma raised his fourth finger. "Fourth is Panlmukta. The ultimate sense of spatial awareness. You must learn to sense the flow of air, the heat of energy, and the heartbeat of your foe—allowing you to aim and strike targets dead-on without using your eyes at all."

Arjun Dev absorbed the weight of the four arts, gripping his bow string tighter. "Mantra Mukta, Amukta, Mukta Mukta, and Panlmukta... these are on a completely different scale from basic archery."

"Indeed," Bhishma declared sternly. "And now, it is time for you to witness the true potential of these arts."

Without another word, Bhishma turned on his heel and bounded up the steep, jagged rocks toward the absolute peak of the mountain.

"Follow me!" Bhishma's voice echoed down the cliffside.

Karna didn't hesitate for a second. Gathering his spiritual energy into his legs, Karna sprinted up the vertical stone faces, following close behind the God of Weapons.

When they reached the highest precipice, the clouds swirled beneath their feet, revealing a vast, uninhabited valley thousands of feet below. Bhishma unslung his massive, ancient bow. In a movement so fluid it seemed effortless, he pulled an arrow from his quiver, notched it, and drew the bowstring back to his ear.

The air around Bhishma instantly grew heavy. The wind stopped blowing.

Bhishma closed his eyes and began to chant a high-tier sacred mantra, his voice echoing across the heavens:

"Om Namah Bhagavati Bhavani Rupa A Namahaa..."

A radiant, golden light burst from the tip of his arrowhead, spiraling into a roaring vortex of divine energy. Bhishma released the string.

THOOM!

The arrow shot forward with terrifying velocity, cutting a straight line through the clouds as a sonic boom shattered the silence of the valley. The projectile flew toward a designated point high above the valley floor.

The moment it reached that precise coordinate, the single arrow suddenly split into thousands of glowing arrows in mid-air! The sky turned into a falling rain of crimson light.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

When the thousand split arrows struck the distant mountain range, they detonated like explosive artillery bombs, razing the rocky cliffs and sending massive shockwaves through the air.

Karna's eyes were wide with awe, his pulse pounding in his ears as he watched the smoke clear from the distant valley.

'That power...' Karna thought, his determination flaring to a fever pitch. 'I have to try it! I can do this!'

Driven by his ambition, Karna instantly pulled an arrow from his own quiver, notched it onto his bow, and pulled the string back with all his physical strength. He focused on the memory of Bhishma's technique and began to chant the sacred words:

"Om Namah Bhagavati Bhavani Rupa A Namahaa!"

But as the words left Karna's lips, the divine energy on his arrowhead did not stabilize. Instead of flowing into the weapon, the ancient mantra rejected his attempt. The spiritual forces rebelled, turning back against Karna's own body!

CRACKLE!

A burst of wild, uncontrolled fire erupted from the bow string, surging directly into Karna's face.

"Gah!" Karna cried out, dropping his bow as a searing heat consumed his left eye. He clutched his face in agony as the divine flames began to burn his skin.

Before the fire could consume him, Bhishma reacted instantly. In a blur of motion, Bhishma notched a blue-glowing arrow, drew, and fired directly at Karna's feet.

SPLASH!

The arrow dissolved mid-air into a torrential wave of pressurized water, washing over Karna and instantly extinguishing the divine flames burning his eye.

Karna fell to one knee, panting heavily and clutching his throbbing, smoking left eye. Smoke rose gently from his face as he looked up at his master in frustration and pain.

Bhishma lowered his bow, stepping forward to look down at his injured pupil with a grave expression.

"Control your impatience, Karna," Bhishma said softly, his tone stern yet protective. "I know your heart. I know you possess the burning desire to become a legendary warrior—just like your great-grandfather Parasad. But divine mantras cannot be rushed. Force them without proper foundation, and they will consume you from the inside out. You need to wait and build your vessel first."

Karna wiped the water and soot from his face, slowly pushing himself back up to his feet. He looked at Bhishma, his right eye burning with an unyielding quest for knowledge.

"Master Bhishma..." Karna rasped, his voice filled with deep reverence. "Where did you learn such a deadly technique?"
