Aria's POV
My back ached so bad when I woke up
the next morning, probably from the unending stress and sleepless night.
Unintending to move yet,I lay beside Lucian, watching him sleep, the ankle monitor on his leg blinking steadily and it served as a reminder that our freedom was only partial. My thoughts kept drifting back to our conversation after we retreated to the bedroom.
I had told him it was alright and that he did what needed to be done to get himself out of jail but inwardly, it had turned my guts.
The idea that the man I loved had willingly put himself in danger by arranging to be stabbed or beaten, just to get out of prison terrified me. I wondered what length he would go to achieve whatever he wanted. I mean I knew Lucian was ambitious and hot headed but this was beyond risky.
What if I had lost him for real? The thought made my stomach churn even now.
