Chapter 23 - Secrets of the Crumbling Realms

After an exhausting journey, Yue Ming finally arrived at the gates of Yamatsuki. It was a modest city, small in size and seemingly insignificant to the naked eye.

"What a quiet place," Yue Ming whispered to himself, his golden eyes scanning the surroundings with a calmness that hid a storm of power.

He began wandering through the narrow alleys until he stumbled upon the Adventurers' Guild. The heavy wooden doors creaked open as he stepped inside, heading straight toward the reception desk.

"Peace be upon you," Yue Ming said coolly.

Mio, the receptionist, looked up and asked, "How can I help you?"

"I am here to take on a mission," he replied.

"Show me your adventurer's card, please."

Yue Ming handed it over without a word. Mio took the card and began inspecting it carefully to verify his identity. After confirming the card, she nodded and said, "Choose any mission you find suitable."

His eyes scanned the board until they landed on a specific task: Killing the Ogre King.

"I'll take this one," Yue Ming stated, his voice carrying an undeniable authority.

The Encounter in the Woods

Yue Ming ventured deep into the dark forest in search of his prey. Suddenly, a rustle came from behind. With a swift, fluid motion, he tilted his body, narrowly dodging a massive blow.

"The Ogre King seeks to ambush me? How pathetic," Yue Ming sneered.

The beast was colossal, muscles bulging like stones, wielding a massive wooden club. It roared, a sound that shook the very trees, and swung its weapon with terrifying force. Yue Ming dodged again, but this time, he didn't back away. He lunged forward, grabbed the Ogre's massive arm, and with inhuman strength, slammed the giant creature into the dirt.

The Ogre King struggled to its feet, blinded by rage. It unleashed a barrage of strikes, but Yue Ming parried them all with effortless grace.

"I've given you enough time," Yue Ming murmured, his gaze turning cold. "Now, die."

He leaped high into the air, descending like a falling star. With one crushing blow, he flattened the Ogre King into the earth, ending its life instantly. After harvesting a sample as proof of the kill, he returned to the guild, collected his reward, and headed toward a nearby inn.

"I need a room," he told the innkeeper, Amy.

"Ten silver coins per day," she replied.

"I'll take it for two months."

"That will be two gold pieces then," Amy said, impressed. "Your room is number twenty."

Yue Ming entered his room, finally allowing himself a moment of rest.

The Kingdom of Light: Zetsu's Infiltration

Far away, in the Kingdom of Light, Zetsu was moving like a ghost. Cloaked in his invisibility ability, he moved with terrifying speed, leaping across rooftops and scaling the high walls of the royal castle.

Finding an open window in the king's tower, he slipped inside. He navigated the corridors with extreme caution until he reached the royal archives. His fingers flew through the documents until he found a hidden scroll.

> The Secret Covenant: A non-aggression pact between the Kingdoms of Fire, Light, and Darkness. No alliances with outside kingdoms are permitted, and secrets must remain within the circle.

>

"What a beautiful day," Zetsu whispered, a dark grin spreading across his face.

He dug deeper, finding more classified documents:

* The State of the Realm: Reports showing the Kingdom of Light was on the brink of economic collapse, with a dwindling military and failing political structure.

* The Decree of Subjugation: A secret agreement where the Kingdom of Fire would take control of the Kingdom of Light under the guise of "restoring order."

"These papers are excellent," Zetsu muttered, tucking them away. "Morgan will find these very interesting."
