Chapter 20 - The Black Reaper Suit from Aogiri Tree Days — Trash or Treasure?

Seeing the banner the Will of Blue Star pulled up on the livestream, the guests on I'm Watching the Divine Domain all wore complicated expressions.

Sienna Blake covered her mouth with both hands, stunned.

"Wait—after that blinding golden light, it wasn't an attribute boost?!"

To be honest, Captain Cole and Dr. Hart were disappointed too.

At this point, in the public's collective understanding, attribute points were basically the best possible reward. After all, tools and weapons were external—only your own hard power truly lasted.

Attribute rewards had already become the world's recognized "top-tier" prize.

But then again, the number of chests opened so far was still tiny.

No—until now, only Miracle Nation's team had opened a chest. With Adrian Vale and Raven Shaw added in, that made just two openings total.

No one could be sure whether higher-tier chests might later drop something even better than raw attribute boosts.

Still, for the moment, Adrian's item reward was being treated as junk by the masses.

Derek Vaughn, as always, couldn't resist piping up.

"Hmph. What rotten luck. A perfectly good E-rank Chest wasted like this. Should've let me open it. If I were the one in the Divine Domain, I'd be miles ahead of everyone by now."

By this point, the other guests couldn't even be bothered to respond.

But the livestream chat absolutely could.

"Was he born like this, or did he train?"

"I want the locksmith uncle at my apartment gate to ask you one question: who do you think you are?"

"How many keys do you even deserve?"

"You don't."

"You guys are killing me "

Whatever the world thought Adrian had pulled, Adrian didn't care.

Item or attributes—either way, it was all the same to him.

For the Adrian Vale of today, the improvement from either was… pocket change.

As the golden light condensed, a set of jet-black combat gear appeared in front of him.

And then the Will of Blue Star spoke again.

[Black Reaper: Extremely durable. Unaffected by severe cold or scorching heat. Resists dirt and grime. If damaged, it will automatically repair itself—even if only a tiny scrap remains.]

That was it.

Just a single, short description.

Adrian remained calm, unbothered.

But the instant his eyes landed on the outfit—

his gaze sharpened.

Because this black combat suit was painfully familiar.

It wasn't just "some tactical clothing."

It was—

the black combat suit Kaneki wore during his Aogiri Tree days.

Adrian had tried before to find something similar to raise his sync rate—he'd searched carefully, compared styles, even bought a few sets.

But none of them satisfied him.

Over time, he'd simply settled for wearing a student uniform.

And now…

This Black Reaper set in front of him?

It was practically identical to the original.

No—if anything, it was even better.

Because as the Will of Blue Star stated, it self-repaired.

Which meant it perfectly solved a problem he'd been quietly annoyed by for a long time—

when he unleashed his kagune, he wouldn't have to deal with the awkward "clothes shredded, no outfit left" situation anymore.

A home-and-combat miracle gear piece.

Perfect.

And more importantly—

role progression.

How much would this Black Reaper suit increase his sync rate?

Adrian's eyes flickered.

Then, without hesitation, he moved to act.

Of course, nobody else knew what he was thinking.

At that moment, not just Dragon Nation's viewers—

even overseas spectators were gloating.

"Hahahaha! Good, good—no attribute points!"

"Scared me—I thought an E-rank chest would launch Dragon Nation straight into the sky."

"Not everyone gets to be as lucky as Miracle Nation's competitors. Want attribute rewards? Dream on!"

"He's probably stunned right now, hahaha!"

"This is satisfying!"

And when Adrian's E-rank Chest didn't give attributes—but instead produced a seemingly "useless" outfit—

the Eastern Isles leadership was practically over the moon.

"Hahahaha! Dragon Nation idiots! Even an E-rank Chest can't save you!"

"Exactly! We thought their competitors would become the strongest in the Divine Domain after this. Who knew they'd pull something this worthless?"

"Even the heavens won't spare them a glance!"

They were ecstatic.

To them, anything that hurt Dragon Nation was the best news imaginable.

Then the balding, heavyset official with the slick smile spoke coldly.

"Enough. Issue the order to our competitors immediately—eliminate Dragon Nation's competitors. No delays."

"Yes!"

The ministers finally calmed their excitement.

Assassinate Dragon Nation's competitors.

And then Dragon Nation collapses.

That was the Eastern Isles' plan.

And far across the ocean, Miracle Nation made the same decision—almost in perfect sync.

They too celebrated.

They too issued the kill order.

But then—

the Will of Blue Star spoke again.

And every smile froze.

[Congratulations! Dragon Nation competitor Raven Shaw has opened an E-rank Chest and obtained: All Attributes +15!]
