A year passed by,Zenon was already in his second year, although he had a carry over in his second semester result despite a higher CGPA while his immediate elder sister,Zoe had just left for law school at Abuja in scholarship proudly sponsored by her university,uniport(university of port Harcourt) where she had just obtained an LLB in law and emerged with the highest CGPA of 4.61 which fortunately made her the best graduating student of her department, although it was not yet their convocation. Meanwhile,their youngest sister,Zelda had just finished her secondary school in which her mom particularly suggested she should perhaps stay home for a year before processing her admission to any institution of her choice but Zuri on the other hand had always wanted Zelda to go study abroad with her husband's two cousin's (a male and a female)Mathias and Natalia who were almost the same age as Zelda. However,Zuri wanted to utilsed their opportunity as they were still in secondary school,their final year as at when Zelda was done already,she explained to her parents on how she would processed everything with Mathias and Natalia's parents,though they are from different parents entirely.
"Mommy, staying here being idle is sulking can I go and visit sister Zuri?" Zelda asked her mother for a permission to go and spend sometimes with her elder sister who resided in Delta State which was apparently few hours away from their residents in Benin,Edo state.
"Baby, going to Zuri's place isn't really advisable,you are aware she's married now s going there often is like not giving her some privacies" her mother replied advisably
"But mommy she's my sister and your daughter? Zelda responded again
"Yes,she is but she has another mother which is her mother in law, we can no longer command her or rather imposed our wish on her. She has a husband she would have to take instructions from" her mother said calmly again
"But I'm lonely here" Zelda said frowning
"Maybe I should take you somewhere you could go learn some handwork, don't you think" Mrs Ikupaye said
"Handworks?" Zelda questioned.
"That's so cringe,I Don't have options now,I'm desperately in need of something to do so I wouldn't mind as long as I'm out of this boredom" Zelda continued
Her father walked in and everywhere swiftly went on silence,Zelda immediately exited her mother's room and throughout that day she spent it thinking critically and logically on what she could learn effortlessly.
Weeks passed by,Zelda who had began hee apprenticeship at a beading firm within their estate while Zuri had been hectic preparing her papers and also working on Zelda's admission to NEW YALE UNIVERSITY,USA to study medicine and surgery while her second option if outside country didn't eventually worked out,she already compromised to sponsored her to The PAN-ATLANTIC university in Lagos meanwhile all this plans has been unknown to Zelda and every other siblings excluding Mrs Ikupaye and Zuri the master planner. Fortunately,for her and with the strong influence of her husband's families,they decided to step in and took it from where she stopped thereby requesting for the applicants personal information and some other necessary requirements for qualifications. Lo and be hold Zuri bought Zelda some big textbooks for her to study,Zuri even told her it would be for her jamb not knowing that it was TOEFL,she mindfully granted her visitation to her house in Delta where she enrolled her in an expensive tutorials with Mathias and Natalia. The three became a clique as they studied together often and always lending a supportive hands at any difficulties. Exaltedly, the three were granted an admission for their respective field of studies at The New take university but their parents hoarded the new,started packing their stuffs and preparing them for a new journey.
Everything seemed weird to Zelda as her sister Zuri now Mrs Green gifted her some gadgets which included,An apple laptop,an Ipad,an iphone, headsets and other reading gadgets,the following day,her sister's husband Andrew gifted her some winter hoodies and head warmers, they even took her to a cosmetologist for a recommended skin care routine.
"Sister,why are you buying me all this,I never told you that I needed them" Zelda queried her eldest sister Zuri out of curiosity
"Zelda,you are not getting any younger,you actually need to change your lifestyle" Zuri replied her with an obvious expression of dishonesty
"You are not telling me the truth" Zelda inquired again
"Don't you need them, or don't you like them" her sister responded sounding kinda harsh
"I do but....." Zelda said
"But nothing, know that and know peace" Zuri shutted her sister up
They got home at almost night after shopping thoroughly and chesting all the bills,she began to packed some boxes which she just bought from Zelda,with the help of their house help and also instructed Zelda to packed her bag as she would be returning to Benin with her the next morning.
On getting to their residents in Benin,Zelda stepped into her room and found everywhere strange as it had been nearly arranged by her mother. Meanwhile, her dad had just been informed days back before their arrival about her admission so that night they all decided to broke the new to everyone including Zoe and Zenon.
"Daddy what's going on here" Zelda inquired as she got invited to sitting room late at night by her parents and she met her sister holding a heavy files
" Sit down,daughter" her father instructed her
Respectively,she took her seat but apparently looking confused and curious as well
" You guys had been silent for a while now,can you all tell me what's wrong?" Zelda inquired again but this time with a loud voice
"Zelda(her father called out, adjusting his sitting posture and stretching out his hands to collect the files Zuri was holding) you had just been offered an admission" Her father steadily broke the news
"How?I didn't even saw my jamb results till date" Zelda said obliviously
"Yes,but it's possible" her father said
"Wait,which institution and what course am I being offered" Zelda asked her sister
"PAU,your dream course baby" her sister said with a shaky voice
" Let me be blunt please,sister Zuri apparently,you don't know how to lie. Everybody in this house are aware so be honest and let that guilty expression out of your face"Zelda blunted
She was told that she would resumed the next day, excitedly she began packing her bags as they dismissed from the sitting room. Zuri,on the other hand picked up her phone to broke the new to her other siblings including Zenon conditionally that they mustn't informed Zelda about it being abroad.
The next day was her flight,the families linked with Mathias and Natalia's on their way to Lagos,picked them up and headed to the airport
"Sis,I thought PAU is in Lagos here why do we have to use flight? Zelda questioned as they alighted at the airport and her mother was already emotional uncontrollably
Zuri held her two hands as tears rolled down her cheeks
"Baby,I'm sorry but it's not here"Zuri stuttered
"Which one is here,guys what's going on"she shouted
"Your institution is Yale university,New Haven USA"Zuri confidently broke the news
"Sis,you are joking"Zelda bursted into tears
" no I am not, you would be going with Mathias and Natalia,they gained admission there too"
"Zelda, forcefully snatched herself from her sister in tears and ran to her parents who were inside the car. She hugged her mom's neck tightly assuring her that she wouldn't ever leave her not even going to school outside of Nigeria
"Mommy,I can't leave you. No one is going to take care of you for me" Zelda said wailing heavily
"Baby,I know but you have to go make us proud" Her mother said too
After hours of tears rolling down everyone's cheek as they bade themselves a years goodbye. It was time for Zelda's flight to took off she couldn't do anything but to leave her families in Nigeria even though it hurted so much that she caused a scene at the airport she was also grateful to her sister.
The family waved her as they took a reverse and exited the airport,Zelda bursted into a real tears and wailed for till her flight with Mathias and Natalia took off and waved Nigeria a Goodbye.
