Kakashi didn't have any friends. Everyone rejected him because he prioritized missions over everything else.
In his eyes, nothing was more important than missions, but his teammates changed that about him.
Kabuto didn't know much about Obito and Rin, but he had investigated Kakashi. He even knew that the information about the mission was leaked by Danzo.
This was normal for Danzo, but it made Kakashi who he was. He only changed after joining Team Seven under Minato.
Even so, he lost the very people he finally accepted as his friends.
If he hadn't changed, if he hadn't accepted Obito and Rin as friends, Kakashi wouldn't have been living in guilt for losing them.
If he had more friends, he wouldn't have grieved so much about them.
The villagers were even simpler. In their eyes, they caused trouble for Naruto when he was a kid.
Now, he was not only their savior but also Hokage and the son of the previous hero. This shook the minds of those people.
Humans are emotional creatures. They feel pain. They feel regret, and when they feel guilt, they want to release it.
With Danzo as a traitor and the Third Hokage dead, they didn't have the opportunity to release that guilt as rage.
They could only bottle that guilt in their hearts and hope the Hokage wouldn't treat them worse.
The fear would remain, but if Naruto didn't treat them as they expected, instead forgive them and protect them.
That guilt would grow even more.
Unless a person is insane, this is the most normal human behavior.
Even insane people had a similar tendency.
Just like how Danzo always hated the fact that he couldn't step forward to work as bait for their team like Hiruzen.
That feeling drove him to take Sasuke down with him.
Otherwise, with Danzo's mindset, he would've run away. He would have sacrificed his eye to use one more Izanagi from Shisui's eye and run away.
Danzo was exactly that kind of person.
But just one feeling, one moment in his life, made him take such a drastic decision.
Kabuto didn't know about this, but Naruto understood it. That's exactly the reason why Naruto said these words.
He truly did have that resentment in his heart. That resentment hadn't disappeared because he became Hokage.
The original Naruto's resentment stuck until the Fourth Great Ninja War.
He only let go of his resentment after understanding the resentment of the Tailed Beasts.
They were also living beings. They shouldn't have been kept in the cage. Naruto had only been on one side of the cage for twelve years.
These tailed beasts had been in a cage for decades.
After Naruto felt for them, he truly let go of any resentment he had, even the ones that he had accepted from the Waterfall of Truth.
At that time, Naruto didn't let go of the resentment. He accepted it, making himself whole.
During the war, Naruto let go of that resentment instead of living with it. He realized there were many others who had lived worse lives than he had.
Instead of keeping the resentment in his heart, he should move forward to live a better life.
Besides, his enemy Obito was dead. He had saved the world. Thousands upon thousands of shinobi who mistreated him were dead.
The living ones were all just civilians who didn't have the emotional control; ninjas lived in guilt.
Naruto didn't think like that. In his mind, he had become the Greatest Hero of the World and the most respected person in Konoha.
He had saved the world and brought his best friend back.
Soon, he would marry the most beautiful woman in the village and have a family. His life was complete.
Naruto never needed to act on his revenge because his life just went the way that was best for him.
The current Naruto had knowledge about the future, but he hadn't let go of his resentment.
That's why Kurama and his parents never acted against him, even though what he was doing wasn't exactly good.
That money from the Daimyo came from somewhere. It came from the people's hands, but Naruto didn't care.
He just kept that money and used Hiruzen and the Elders' money to repair the village while also preparing for war.
Kabuto cleared his mind. He didn't need to think about any of that. He just wanted to ask Naruto one thing.
"Naruto-kun, I have lived my entire life as a traitor and spy. What made you believe you can trust me to rejoin Konoha?"
Naruto pointed at himself and asked.
"Kabuto, think about my current personality and my personality from the past. What made you think I am not much different from you?"
"Do you think I would change so much just because my parents left me with their memories? No, no, no, this change happened much earlier."
"I only acted now because that moment was perfect for me. Danzo didn't hold any real power in the village."
"The elders were nothing but his enemies at that moment. Third Hokage was in his last leg."
"So, I chose to reveal myself."
His words frightened Fugaku slightly. He never thought Naruto would've been playing fool for so long just to hide from the Third Hokage and Danzo.
Tobirama's lips twitched.
Among others, he was the only one who knew the truth, but this was indeed a perfect way to cover up his situation.
After all, Naruto's personality change was quite drastic. His friends and other Jonin would definitely take notice of it.
So, it was better to reveal it with another lie than just hold it down.
But Naruto had been lying quite a lot. This was a problem that Minato, Kushina, and Kurama noticed.
"Besides, you might betray others, but you will not betray the expectations of the person who raised you."
"You will become the Second Hokage's assistant as well as director of the Konoha Orphanage and director of the movie 'Konoha's Greatest Misfortune'."
Naruto chuckled as he asked.
"So, what do you think of this as revenge against Danzo?"
