I turned and began walking toward the main house.
The courtyard was quiet now. The candlelight flickered softly, and the night had settled in fully.
Just as I reached the front, I saw Madame Fu.
She was standing there with a bowl of water in her hands.
"You came at the right time," she said. "Take this to the kitchen for me."
I nodded and stepped forward to take the bowl from her.
"Alright."
She gave a small nod and did not say anything more.
I turned and walked toward the outdoor kitchen, holding the bowl carefully.
The closer I got, the quieter it felt.
Just as I reached the entrance—
I stopped.
Fu Fei was walking out.
Her expression looked tight, almost uneasy, and she did not notice me as she passed by.
I frowned slightly.
Something felt off.
I took a step forward, about to go in—
Then I heard voices.
I paused immediately.
Without making a sound, I stepped slightly to the side of the wall, out of sight.
Then I heard it clearly.
"You do not like women."
