Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 – I First whisper from the shadow

Raven's heart fluttered in his chest as he stood in the center of the ancient place, where the glowing lines had vanished and the ground had become a network of mysterious carvings. The forest was quieter than ever, as if it were breathing slowly, waiting for something.

He raised his hand toward the stone, its faint light seeming to grow slightly, yet it was still not enough to illuminate the place. But it was enough to sense something new.

Something moving.

Not far away this time.

Something… approaching.

Raven did not move, nor did he blink. All his senses were focused on the shadow.

Then came the sound.

The first whisper.

It was faint, like the wind brushing through the leaves, yet different.

It was… for him.

Raven did not know how, but he understood that the sound was not merely an echo or a trick of his mind. There was an entity watching him, something trying to communicate.

The shadows drew closer slowly, moving between the carvings on the ground. They did not move with the freedom of the forest, but as if following the rules of this place itself.

Then something stopped in front of him. Not a clear form yet, but a denser mass of darkness. Its eyes had not appeared, yet he felt a gaze—alive, direct, weighing the air around him.

And the voice spoke again, this time clearer:

"Raven…"

The child froze. No one had ever spoken his name here. He did not know how this being knew it.

Then it added:

"You have arrived… at last."

His heart raced, but his mind remained alert. He did not feel fear as before, only a sense closer to curiosity.

He whispered softly:

"Who… are you?"

The shadow did not answer directly. It flickered, as if smiling in a way he could not see.

Then it whispered again:

"I am what watches… before you begin."

Raven did not fully understand the words, yet they reached him like a fifth truth: a feeling, not a logical meaning.

Then it began to move. Not away, but slowly, disappearing and reappearing between the carvings on the ground. Every movement was deliberate, as if the place itself governed what could be seen or touched.

Raven followed silently, each step measured. There was no fear, only curiosity.

After a few moments, the shadow stopped abruptly and pointed to another stone covered in carvings. The stone was not glowing. But it looked different. It seemed to carry an invitation, a challenge, perhaps even a test.

Raven approached slowly, reaching toward the stone. One moment was enough to feel a strange pulse, faint but tangible. Like a heartbeat from the core of the place.

He lifted his head, searching for the shadow. But it was no longer there. The entity had seemingly waited for Raven to test himself first.

His heart leapt again, but inside he was calm. He understood something simple: this place, and these entities… were not for play or fear. They were… a test. The beginning of a new journey, deeper than anything he had experienced.

He took a deep breath and gripped the stone tightly. In that moment, he felt a faint beam of light emanate from it, stretching slightly outward, touching the carvings on the ground.

Raven smiled slightly, sensing that the path was beginning to form—not externally, but internally. As if the place were opening a door for him, toward deeper understanding, toward greater power, toward what he had never imagined.

And with that thought, he began to move again. His steps were steady, his heart ready for whatever might come, his awareness fully directed toward the mystery ahead.

Raven was no longer alone. Something was watching him, guiding him, perhaps even waiting for the moment of truth.
