Chapter 61 - Uneasy

A wooden door with engravings stood before me.

The instructor glanced at me once before knocking twice on the door.

There was a brief silence before—

"Come in."

A commanding voice spoke from within.

The instructor motioned for me to enter. I didn't know what to expect from this meeting, but—

There wasn't a reason for me to feel nervous.

Holding the handle, I pushed the door open.

What greeted me was a modest office with basic furniture that could be found anywhere.

A table was placed at the far end of the room, with chairs on both sides.

A man sat on the chair behind the table, his hands locked under his chin.

With greyish-white hair, he looked to be in his fifties.

But that was far from the truth.

The person before me had walked these lands for centuries, or even more. It wasn't like there was a file keeping records of the ages of individuals like him.

The Headmaster's eyes never left mine.

I made myself comfortable on the chair opposite him.
