Chapter 8 - 7

The First Fight

---

Third Person POV

"I may be small but I hate bullies like you," Eunice grunted, her grip tightening on the knife as she pursued the RV, kicking at a box threatening to fall.

"You bitch!" The burly man, struck by the cart, grabbed Eunice's foot, nearly pulling her from her precarious perch.

"You ugly bastard," Eunice gritted her teeth, clinging to the RV's beam. Pulling the knife free, she plunged it into his wrist.

"Ughh, bitch, just die already!" the burly man screamed in pain, his grip loosening.

"Go get in the car and get that bitch!" the tall, skinny man shouted, hauling the injured man towards the vehicle.

"When I get her in my arms, let me see if she can be as tough when I pin her below me." The skinny man sneered.

(In the RV)

"Are you okay?" Eunice checked on Genie as she sat beside her.

"Yeah, just a bit dizzy," Genie replied while holding her head.

"Can you climb up the stairs?" Eunice asked as she grabbed a bottle of water from the mess on the floor.

"I think I can, but the vehicle is moving," Genie said, her hands gripping Eunice's arm, shivering from fear.

"It's okay. Let me just help you out," Eunice offered, wrapping her arms around Genie and holding her close while helping her climb to her bedroom.

"Just rest here for a while," Eunice said as she helped the pregnant Genie onto her bed and tucked her in.

"I'll ask my brother to check on you, okay?" Eunice added as she gently patted Genie's hand, then climbed out as she saw her nod.

"Noona, are you okay?" Tommy asked as he looked at the monitor showing the cars of men chasing them.

"Yeah, I am. Let's switch. Go check on the girl I helped at the supermarket; you might find her familiar," Eunice said with a wink as they efficiently exchanged seats while she continued to drive.

"Really?" he asked, and Eunice shrugged, feigning ignorance.

"No matter what happens, make sure to not go out or look out the window. And before going up to check on the girl, make sure to buckle the twins in their beds," Eunice called out as she activated the hallway camera while maneuvering the RV through different streets.

(On the cars outside)

"This bastard! How can he drive so well in such a large vehicle?" the scrawny man grumbled as he tried to accelerate.

"This must be one of those fancy RVs that rich people own," their boss, the big man in the back, said.

"Then we might sell that thing for millions," the big-bellied man added while tending to his wound.

"Yeah, hahaha! And we can enjoy a feast. One of them is pregnant, but she can deal with this," the scrawny man said, rubbing his crotch area.

"Focus on driving and make sure to follow that RV closely," the boss commanded as he picked up a cigar and lit it.

"Should I shoot the tire, boss?" the burly man asked, pulling out his handgun.

"No, we can't do that—not yet, at least," the boss said, smirking when he saw the RV turn right into a tight alleyway.

"She may be a good driver, but she's an idiot for going into an empty alley," the others laughed. But when they turned into the narrow alley, the RV was nowhere to be seen.

"WHAT THE FUCK! WHERE DID THAT BITCH GO?!" the boss screamed as he punched the scrawny man.

"I... I saw it. We all saw it!" the scrawny man said in disbelief as they got out of the car and looked around every corner of the alley.

Eunice POV

"Stupid bastards," I said smugly as I saw a timer starting in the clouds.

I looked up to see it clearly displayed as 2:58:01, the numbers decreasing steadily. I tilted my head, pondering its significance, but then snapped myself out of it as I walked toward the storage room to take out the window covers. I covered the windows, making sure they wouldn't see anything about my space.

"I guess bringing people in has its limits, but I can stay alone here with unlimited time," I mumbled to myself, knocking on my door.

"Noona?" I heard a low reply from Tom as Genie opened the door with puffy eyes.

"Oh, did something happen?" I asked, looking confused at the two red-eyed teens in my room.

"No, noona, thank you," Tom said as he climbed down, hugging me tightly and bawling in my arms.

"I know. You're welcome; you're my brother too, so when I see a familiar face, I just take her with me," I smiled, patting his back as he cried.

"Unnie, thank you," Genie said softly, standing in the doorway and holding her pregnant belly.

Gasping dramatically, "You did it?" I asked, covering my mouth with one hand while pointing at her pregnant belly with the other.

"Noona!" Tom exclaimed, blushing as he hugged the red-faced Genie.

"That's not what I was asking!" I laughed, still looking at them.

"Unnie, stop it," she said softly, pushing me away as her face turned beet red.

"How far along are you? Also, help me arrange some stuff first," I said while I started organizing the packed items and putting them in cabinets and storage.

"Okay, noona. Gen, just sit here," Tom said sadly as he helped me out.

"I'm six months pregnant, unnie—around 27 weeks," Genie said, and I nodded, wiping the floor.

"I see, just 13 weeks more then," I said, entering Tom's room to pick up Dahlia, who was still sleeping.

"Tom?" I heard Genie call out in a panic after a loud thud sounded. I walked out to see Tom passed out on the floor while Genie was holding his head.

"What happened?" I asked as I walked out, carrying Dahlia in my arms.

"He just passed out all of a sudden. Is he okay, unnie? Is she okay too?" Genie asked worriedly when she saw me walk out with a sleeping Dahlia.

"Yeah, the three of them will be fine, but can you just let him lay on your lap for now? I'll move them out of his room," I said while carrying Dahlia with one arm as I climbed back into my room.

"Huh? Okay," Genie said, looking confused as she put Tom's head on her lap.

I moved the twins into my bedroom and then, with Genie's help, carried Tom out. I checked the vital signs of the three sick kids, making sure they were comfortable while Genie changed Tom's clothes. I then went to the twins, ensuring they were okay while wiping them down and changing their clothes.

"Please be okay. I might not handle it if I lose you again," I whispered, kissing both of them on their foreheads.

"Unnie?" I heard Genie call out.

"Yeah?" I asked while changing my clothes.

"I finished changing Tom," Genie said as I saw her sitting on the couch.

"Okay, just let him rest. Are you hungry?" I asked while walking toward the kitchen.

"I am a bit," she answered timidly, following behind me like a tail.

"Come on, your boyfriend made some red bean porridge," I teased her as I handed her a bowl with a spoon.

"Did he really?" she asked, taking a bite and tearing up again.

"What's the matter?" I asked, sitting in front of her.

"It's delicious," she said, wiping her tears.

"Yeah, Tom is a good cook. Why are you crying again?" I asked, handing her a box of tissues.

"He used to not know how to cook and would burn anything," she sobbed again, crying loudly as she ate.

"I see," I said, wiping her snot blankly.

"Ahh, unnie, thank you! Wahhh!" she wailed as she finished a bowl while crying.

"Shhh, it's okay," I said, patting her back as I wiped her snot and tears.

---

After an hour of coaxing, the pregnant crybaby—with her high hormones—had fallen asleep on the couch, which had turned into a bed while hugging me. I looked at the ceiling, feeling lost with a pregnant teen who cried at every turn, three feverish kids, and a teen who was still transitioning as her body tried to accept the powers. I took a deep breath as I felt the environment change.

Looking out of the window, I saw that we had indeed gotten out of the space, with no crazy goons outside the alley. I started driving out of the alley, thinking about how helpful that pure spring water had been. Maybe it wasn't just spring water but a spiritual water from when we entered the forest. I parked the car in a spot closer to the falls since I had already cleared out the trees.

"Unnie?" I heard Genie call out while sitting on the couch, hugging a blanket.

"I'm here," I replied from the kitchen as I started cooking something for dinner.

"Oh, can I help?" she asked, her eyes twinkling as she looked at me.

"Alright, but be careful with the knife. And tell me your story," I said while making some kimchi stew and rice with fried chicken.

"Well, I was a child of the Hans group in Italy. But my dad somehow got in trouble with some tycoon there, and we had to move to Korea. I am a nursing student at the same college as Tom, and I find him cute," she said, blushing while taking a bite.

"Ahh, but why are you here in the US then?" I asked curiously.

"Well, knowing how hard it must be for Tom to earn enough money, I saved up my allowance and flew here, not knowing I was pregnant. Four months later, I found out I was pregnant when I got my stomach checked due to my morning sickness. I thought it was just stomach flu," she explained, blushing as she rubbed her pregnant belly.

"I see. It must be hard for you to roam around looking for Tom," I said, patting her hand.

"Well, I did find him; it was all worth it. Although I had to erase myself from my family lineage, I am happy to be with him. After my mom died and realizing how cruel my dad is, I'd rather cut ties. He has killed a lot of people and has a lot of kids from different women. Losing me is not a big deal for him; he even looked happy when I left the house," she said sadly, and I sighed, wondering if she would cry again.

"Well, you can just stay with us then if you want. I'll take care of you both as much as I can, but please don't betray my trust," I said, patting her hand.

"Can you watch the three patients? I'll leave my door open; I have to do some work outside," I said while removing the window covers.

"Okay," she said as she sat facing the rooms.

"Call me if you need something," I said while picking up an axe and some tools.

When I walked out, I took some wood slabs near the banks and stocked them by the falls. I climbed up toward the upper part of the falls to figure out how I should stop the water from falling by the entrance. Reaching the top, I rested by the side, looking at the area where a lot of rocks were clumped together.

"This is a lot of work, and it's already dark," I murmured, looking up at the darkening sky while pulling out my headlamp.

"Let's make use of my space to finish faster," I said to myself as I placed a big rock in my space.

"This should be enough," I grumbled, piling rocks in the area where the riverbank entrance was.

I started working on the rocks, piling them securely to change the flow without causing it to overflow toward the piled rocks. After that, I climbed down, checking the time when I reached the ground. Seeing it was already midnight, I walked back into the RV, only to find Genie still in the same clothes walking out of the RV.

"Where are you going?" I asked, approaching her with the tools.

"Oh, unnie, I was worried you didn't come back earlier. The twin with light brown eyes woke up," Genie said as she stopped in her tracks.

"Oh, Fiona?" I rushed into the van, seeing Fiona sitting on the couch in a daze.

"Is that her name, I guess?" Genie said as she followed behind me.

"Fifi, are you okay?" I asked, hugging her in my arms.

"Sissy, am I a monster?" Fiona asked, snuggling into my embrace.

"No, you're not. What happened?" I asked, looking at her intently.

"I can see a weird screen in front of me," she whispered while pointing at it.

"Can you explain to me what you're seeing?" I asked while patting her back.

"It's like a screen but with a map, and there are green dots on it and a blue dot too. If I do this, like your GPS thingy, it zooms in and out. There are white things moving around on the map," she whispered, explaining and making gestures in the air.

"Can you try tapping on the green dot and explain to me what you see?" I whispered back as I sat her on my lap.

"Okay. I pressed the blue dot—oh, it's me!" Fiona suddenly said energetically while looking at the screen, waving.

"Then what about the green dot?" I asked while brushing her hair.

"It's the beautiful sister. Who is she, sissy?" Fiona asked as she pointed at Genie.

"That's sister Genie, your brother Tommy's girlfriend," I whispered the girlfriend part to her as she giggled, covering her lips.

"Hi, sissy Gen," Fiona waved, clearly distracted.

"Okay now. How about you close your eyes and think of it turning off, like how you turn off the TV. Is it gone?" I instructed her gently as she nodded and did as I said.

"Sissy, it's gone! I'm not a monster anymore!" she exclaimed, hugging me and kissing my face.

"Silly, that's a special ability, baby," I whispered, kissing her cheeks.

"Am I a superhero now?" Fiona whispered, and I nodded.

"So don't tell anyone," I said, kissing her forehead as I carried her to the kitchen.

"Okay. I'm starving, sissy! Look, my tummy is so small! Look at sissy Genie; she must be eating a lot," Fiona exclaimed happily.

"Fifi, you shouldn't say that. Older sissy Genie has a baby in her belly, not because she ate a lot," I reprimanded as she lowered her head.

"I'm sorry, sissy Gen," she apologized, making Genie giggle.

"It's okay. But I do eat a lot, so you're right," Genie joked as she sat beside Fiona.

"Eat up, you silly goose," I said, feeding Fiona.
