Chapter 169 - Chapter 169 - The Death of DIO

Light Curtain Barrage—

Yukinoshita Yukino: "A... a Platinum Printer. Is this the power of the Platinum Printer? It can even copy an ability like Reality Overwriting!"

In the Service Club, the snow-like girl's mouth hung open, utterly shocked by the Jotaro in the video. If it were just time stop, that would be one thing.

But this was Reality Overwriting. Not just time stop, but even an absurdly broken, wish-granting ability like this could be replicated by Star Platinum?

It was no wonder Star Platinum was called the strongest Stand. Unparalleled combat stats, time stop, Reality Overwriting, and even more terrifying, the ability to constantly grow, almost like a copy machine. With all these abilities stacked together, what other Stand could possibly compare?

Higashikata Josuke: "I knew it! Star Platinum is an invincible Stand! I just knew it, Mr. Jotaro! You would never lose!!"

Detective Conan: "I suddenly feel a little sorry for DIO. What a pitiful guy, played by fate. He only knew that he would be invincible after ascending to Heaven, but he had no idea that Jotaro could ascend to Heaven too."

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "Pitiful? There's nothing pitiful about that guy. How many lives has he taken? For an evil man like him, even dying a thousand times wouldn't be enough!"

Kujo Jolyne: "This... is this what my father was like when he was young? Both Star Platinum and my father are just... terrifyingly strong!"

Light Curtain Video—

Star Platinum: Over Heaven. Unlike The World, Star Platinum's appearance didn't change drastically after ascending to Heaven.

Aside from its aura and power growing immensely stronger, it looked much the same as before its ascension—a muscular, humanoid Stand of blue and purple.

And now, the fated duel between Jotaro Kujo and DIO had reached its climax. The final battle was about to begin...

The empty streets were so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

DIO stood in the middle of the road with his arms crossed, his eyes radiating a dangerous and terrifying aura. His white and gold attire gave him an almost divine appearance.

On the other side, Jotaro stood with his hands in his pockets, the brim of his hat obscuring his eyes. His black school uniform and hat, combined with his height and demeanor, gave him the feel of a dark hero.

Although neither man had made the first move, the clash of their imposing auras had already played out several rounds in the air between them.

A battle between Stands is a clash of spirits and wills. At this moment, both DIO and Jotaro were in peak condition, physically and mentally. One could even say they were at the absolute zenith of their entire lives.

Time slowly ticked by. Dawn was approaching. The battle that had raged for an entire night was finally nearing its conclusion.

"Bring it on, DIO!!" After a brief silence, Jotaro was the first to speak, Star Platinum: Over Heaven materializing behind him.

DIO clenched his fists, his expression incredibly stern. "Hmph, then come, JoJo!!"

"This is, in the truest sense, the final round!!"

JoJo. For over a century, in DIO's eyes, only one man was worthy of that name—the gentleman who had once pushed him to the brink, Jonathan Joestar.

Now, at this final moment of destiny, he had to admit that the Jotaro before him was not only Jonathan's equal but had perhaps even surpassed him.

Therefore, the DIO of today had long since placed Jotaro on the same level as Jonathan—the final, inescapable enemy that he, DIO, was destined to face.

In the middle of the road, the two men slowly closed the distance, just as they had at the very beginning.

A blue fighting aura and a golden fighting aura slowly rose. Their Stands erupted into existence, the fists of The World and Star Platinum smashing together.

"ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!!!"

"MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA!!!"

It was the familiar exchange of blows. By now, both of their Stands had transcended the conventional limits of A-rank power and speed. Countless afterimages of their fists intersected.

Behind what appeared to be a contest of strength and speed was, in truth, a clash of their respective "Truths." Star Platinum: Over Heaven and The World: Over Heaven were endlessly overwriting and being overwritten.

The World overwrote Star Platinum with the truth of "death," only for Star Platinum to immediately overwrite The World's overwrite. Then, The World overwrote Star Platinum's overwrite of its previous overwrite.

And so, in a recursive loop, the attack speed of The World and Star Platinum grew faster and faster, reaching a point where they could no longer be seen by the naked eye.

At the same time, the two flew into the sky amidst their fierce battle, the powerful shockwaves covering the entirety of Asakusa's airspace.

Due to the constant overwriting of reality, the forms of the two combatants flickered and changed, and everything centered around Jotaro Kujo and DIO began to warp.

At the epicenter of Star Platinum and DIO's clash of fists, an immense gravitational force was released, like the singularity of a black hole, tearing everything in the vicinity to shreds.

Buildings were pulverized into dust, the air flowed in reverse, and even space itself began to tremble. The real world was suffering an unprecedented assault.

The rules and constraints of the natural world were being altered and constantly rewritten by the Truths of Star Platinum and The World.

"Hmph~" Amidst the relentless exchange of punches, DIO let out a cold snort. "JoJo, is this your 'Truth'?" he said indifferently.

"Honestly, I'm surprised you were able to reach this level, but..."

A corner of his mouth curled up in a smirk. "You still revealed a weakness. Even if it was just for an instant, kono DIO da has seized it!"

"!!!" Jotaro didn't reply, but Star Platinum's speed grew even more ferocious, confirming that DIO was right. Jotaro had indeed exposed a weakness.

"How much longer can you fight, JoJo? Those humans can't withstand such changes to the world's rules."

"You might be able to endure, but what about them? They'll likely die completely amidst this barrage from Star Platinum and The World."

"Even if you could revive them, after overwriting reality so many times, could you even find their souls correctly?"

"Besides, 'Overwriting Truth' requires immense spiritual and soul power. For both of us, it is a considerable drain."

"Victory is already decided, JoJo. As a gentleman, you won't be able to ignore those ordinary people!"

"ORA—!!"

As DIO's crazed voice echoed, Star Platinum roared and attacked.

"MUDA—!!"

DIO, not to be outdone, met the blow head-on. As the exchange of blows ended, the black-hole-like mass of dark matter they had created gradually dissipated.

In the next moment, reality was rewritten. The two vanished from their positions, creating distance between them and landing on separate, ruined rooftops.

"Tch." Jotaro had anticipated this. His and DIO's nearly limitless rewriting of the world could very well lead to the extinction of humanity.

While DIO couldn't care less, Jotaro couldn't completely ignore such consequences, even if this wasn't his own world.

He hadn't spent much time with the Demon Slayer Corps, but he had come to recognize their resolve and will. Therefore, he would never allow DIO to destroy this world.

"DIO, in the end, do you still have to rely on external factors to defeat me?"

"If that's the case, then... you are destined to fail."

"Because... a man like you has a resolve that is beneath my own."

Jotaro pointed a single finger at DIO, his face filled with contempt.

"Heh heh... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" DIO, holding the advantage, burst into laughter.

"JoJo, I acknowledge your Stand and your spiritual strength, but let's not resort to such childish provocations."

"Kono DIO da is the most powerful emperor in this world. What do the lives of mortals have to do with me?"

"The methods, the process—none of it matters anymore. As long as the one who stands victorious in the end is me, DIO, that is all that matters!!"

---o---

Despicable. Although this was already synonymous with DIO, the audience outside the light curtain couldn't help but curse under their breath upon hearing those words.

However, it did prove one thing: the current DIO was no longer able to suppress Jotaro with his power.

Time stop, Reality Overwriting—all of it had been mastered by Star Platinum. DIO was now at the end of his rope.

Light Curtain Barrage—

Yukinoshita Yukino: "Has DIO been pushed into a corner? He's starting to use the lives of ordinary people as threats."

Shinomiya Kaguya: "A despicable tactic, but a very effective one. At the very least, Jotaro no longer dares to continue clashing with DIO's Reality Overwriting."

The Overseer: "The outcome is decided. Although Jotaro is still at a disadvantage, the moment DIO decided to use civilians as hostages, the winner... was already clear."

Detective Conan: "By your logic, this battle will inevitably end with Jotaro's victory!"

Father Pucci: "No, what do you people understand? DIO will not lose. He is the true child of destiny! He will overcome everything and become the master of the world!"

Light Curtain Video—

The fated duel between Jotaro and DIO continued.

"Muda!!" Because he could no longer use the power of Reality Overwriting as freely as before, Jotaro was finally struck by a punch during their constant exchanges.

The fist of The World: Over Heaven pierced straight through his chest.

"I shall hold this pose. With this, the Joestar bloodline will finally be terminated."

"JoJo, can you revive yourself now? You are doomed to die!!"

"Is that so, DIO?" A voice came from behind him. DIO froze and spun around in a hurry.

He was met with the sight of Star Platinum's fist smashing violently into his face, sending him flying.

"Na... Nani!" Scrambling up from the ground, DIO was in a state of panic. That thing just now... was it a clone?

When had Jotaro become so proficient with Over Heaven? He had mastered it a bit later than DIO himself had.

"I told you, DIO. The moment you used ordinary people to threaten me, you had already lost!"

Jotaro Kujo's coat fluttered in the wind like a cape.

Although both were Over Heaven Stands, Star Platinum was still fundamentally stronger than The World, surpassing it slightly in power and speed.

Even if it was just a sliver, just a tiny bit, it was enough for Jotaro to create a puppet clone to take the hit for him.

"You... you bastard, JoJo!" DIO furiously overwrote the damage to his head, healing it instantly, and roared with anger.

His golden aura grew even denser in his rage.

"I will be the one to end it! The Joestar bloodline will be ended by my hand!!"

With those words, DIO charged forward once again, engaging Jotaro in another clash of fists.

Jotaro responded with a continuous barrage of "ORA." This time, Jotaro's Star Platinum clearly held the upper hand.

"Give it up, DIO. Haven't you realized it yet? You... have already lost!"

Jotaro calmly controlled Star Platinum, even finding the time to adjust his hat as he spoke with a commanding presence.

"DIO, look at your arm. There is only one reason for your defeat. A very simple reason... You pissed me off!"

"NANI!!!" A pained cry escaped DIO. He saw that his arm, at some point, had begun to disintegrate, melting away as if it had been struck by Hamon.

"You... you bastard, what did you do!!!" DIO stared at his arm in disbelief. It was completely damaged and crumbling apart.

"Answer me! Jotaro!!! What did you do!!!"

"You still don't get it?" Looking down at the powerless DIO on the ground, Jotaro kicked him away.

"You're the one who said you would keep your arm in my chest until I was completely dead."

"!! Was it that Stand decoy? What did you put on it?" DIO demanded, his eyes filled with terror.

Jotaro simply looked down on him from above and stated calmly, "Your ability, it seems to be the type that only activates when you strike with both fists."

"Until your arms have healed, you won't be able to overwrite reality."

"So, within that clone, I overwrote a 'truth' that would cause the annihilation of your hands."

Jotaro walked over to DIO's side. The man was no longer a threat to him. He looked at DIO and said, "Your hands should recover in a few seconds."

He was a vampire, after all. His constitution was beyond human comparison. Even without using overwriting, his regenerative abilities were astonishing.

But DIO was no longer listening to Jotaro. His eyes were filled with rage and fear, as if he had already figured out what was coming.

"Don't worry. The moment your hands are healed, my Star Platinum will attack immediately!"

As he spoke, Star Platinum's fist appeared right above DIO's head. The sandbag-sized fist made DIO break out in a cold sweat.

But, unwilling to admit defeat, DIO took a few steps back, the veins on his forehead bulging with anger. "Jotaro!!! Don't you look down on me!!"

"Muda!!!" He suddenly dropped to a kneeling position and flicked his right hand, sending blood from his severed arm flying, splashing directly into Jotaro's eyes.

"Hahaha, how's that! Taste my 'blood-blinding' technique!!"

"I've won!!" DIO suddenly shot up. With his hands restricted, he swung The World: Over Heaven's leg with all his might, aiming straight for Jotaro's head.

But Jotaro did not back down. Beneath the brim of his hat, his expression revealed an icy killing intent.

"—ORA!!!"

Fist and leg collided. With a heavy BANG, cracks appeared on Star Platinum's fist.

Seeing this, DIO let out a "hmph" and a smile touched his lips.

CRACK!

A sound like something shattering echoed. A fissure appeared on The World: Over Heaven's thigh, then rapidly spread upward until its entire body was covered in cracks.

DIO himself began to crack apart as well. He screamed in disbelief, "What!!! Impossible! I, DIO... kono DIO ga... AAAAAAHHHH!!!!"

BOOM!

With a dull explosion, DIO completely detonated, filling the air with a mist of blood, like a balloon popping.

DIO's head and the left half of his body vanished into a crimson cloud. The remaining right half of his body emitted steam, burning away in the night.

And with that, DIO... was utterly and completely dead!
