The chamber did not change when the others left, and yet the absence of their presence altered it in a way that could not be mistaken for emptiness, for what remained behind was not silence alone, but something more deliberate—something that belonged neither to council nor to court, but to a space where words were no longer weighed for their effect upon others, and where what was seen could not be reshaped by performance.

The doors closed with a quiet finality.

Not abrupt.

Not heavy.

But complete.

Silvain stood where he had been left, his posture aligned, his breathing controlled, the stillness he maintained no different from what it had been before, and yet within that stillness there existed a shift—subtle, contained, but present—because the absence of witnesses did not lessen awareness.

It sharpened it.

Isolde did not speak immediately.
