Both families left in their other cars, with the intention that they would meet at the church.
Aria followed Adrian quietly from behind to the second car he had come out of earlier.
The bodyguard outside the car bowed and opened the car door. Adrian entered first, then Aria followed.
Inside the car, Aria made sure to keep a distance between them. She leaned against the window, staring at the roadside as the car drove off.
The atmosphere in the car was silent… and strange. Even the driver and the bodyguard in front could feel the tension.
Aria kept having the urge to say something, maybe to try to know him better and calm the tense atmosphere.
What should I say? Should I ask for his name? No, stupid!! You obviously already know his name. Or should I ask for his age? No, that will definitely make me look stupid…
She pressed her lips together.
Let me just keep my mouth shut. I already look like a fool wearing this wedding dress, whereas he didn't even dress like he was getting married today.
Aria felt like the odd one here.
Aria secretly side-eyed Adrian. He was so focused on his phone.
She carefully examined him. He looked serious and composed, which somehow made him even more attractive.
Her gaze slowly trailed to his arms, which looked muscular beneath the shirt he was wearing.
Just then, Adrian unbuttoned his sleeves and pulled them up slightly, exposing his well-toned arms.
Aria gulped unconsciously.
The sight… was strangely satisfying to her.
Adrian suddenly felt a gaze on him and looked up.
Their eyes met.
Aria immediately looked away, her face flushing in embarrassment after being ogling at him.
Adrian wasn't in the mood for any of this.
He reached for a packet of cigarettes from the parcel shelf and a lighter, bringing one out, ready to light it
Then he paused.
Suddenly, something urged him not to smoke in the car, especially with a lady there.
He didn't know where that feeling came from, and he hated it. It felt like his mind was telling him what to do, like he gave a damn about her.
"Stop the car," Adrian said coldly.
The driver immediately parked the car. The escort cars behind them stopped as well, the one in front noticed and also stopped.
Aria frowned slightly, confused.
Before she could react, Adrian stepped out of the car.
The first thought that entered her mind was
His he going to abandon me here.
"W... Where are you going?" Aria gathered the courage to ask, even though she didn't expect a reply.
"Francis, make sure you all take her to the church safely" Adrian said to the bodyguard in the passenger seat.
He slammed the door shut.
The loud bang made Aria flinch.
Her heart started pounding wildly, and for a moment, her mind flashed
A body falling.
That sound.
Her mom.
Aria scrunched her face, breathing heavily as she tried to push the memory away. After a few seconds, it slowly faded.
She leaned forward slightly, looking outside to see where Adrian had gone.
He had already walked to the first car in front and ordered the two bodyguards inside to step out.
They obeyed immediately.
Adrian got into the driver's seat
And drove off like a flash.
Aria's eyes slowly filled with tears. Her husband had just abandoned her… On their wedding day
