The boy rang the bell, when the residents all heard it struck trice, they all went into hiding. Locking every doors, covering the windows, not leaving a single hint of opening. Cynthia raises her sword and held it tightly, awaiting for the vampires. Suddenly, a vampire flew in neck breaking speed clashes with Cynthia's sword. Cynthia parried the attack and kicked off the vampire. The vampire took no damage and continue to attack her. 'The lord of the sun, may you gift us the power to overcome our foes, lighting a path to continueforward,' She then chanted the spell, using the power of the sun and slaying the vampire.
More and more vampires came flying in break neck speed, attacking the frontlines of vampire hunters. Raye and Auoun defended themselves while Amethia flew up in the air and fire flame spells and thunder spells. Even so, all those attacks won't work against the near omnipotent being which only weakness is sunlight. The vampire suddenly appeared in front of Amethia and said:
"Quite fresh indeed,"
It grabbed her by the throat, choking Amethia. A sudden force slams onto the vampire, sending it away before it could knock out Amethia. It was Will who was using shadow magic. The night was dark which grants him the ability to use his magic without fearing anyone noticing the black magic. Although he can't keep using it or else someone might realise the presence of black magic.
"Vampires are invincible being, it won't be easy to just leave even a scratch on them,"
"Then what do we do?"
"We could only endure this battle until daylight rises,"
Amethia gulped as she heard that they would have to fight for the whole night. Will didn't say much and went on to attack the vampires up in the air. Three vampires were pushing Raye onto the ground just to be shot by Miljana with her dual revolvers. Raye look at the damage dealt on the vampires with blood pouring out of them.
Miljana leaped up high and threw a few grenades from a strap at the vampires, exploding before contact, creating a mist of smoke, blinding the vampires. She then shot a few times at the vampires, sending them onto the ground.
"Damn, you vampire hunters make it looks like they are easy to deal with,"
Raye breaks a sweat and watches Miljana easily took down five of the vampires that were attacking him.
"Nya? It's natural for us to fight vampires nya? We already got used to it nya~"
Miljana then leaped away, aiding the other vampire hunters in need. Auoun dashes forward and slams his dual hammers down onto the ground using the spell he had learned today, smashing the vampires in his path, slaying them. As for Al, he just simply swings the dagger around, trying to threaten the vampires with that dagger. The vampires have the look of confused at first but then mock and snickered at Al, they then tried to grab Al but was killed by a few vampire hunters that were just around the corner.
Will flew up in the air and look down below. He look around the city from above and did not see the ruler of vampires.
"Is it not here?"
Will then noticed the vampire were not killing the human but taking them away. And they were very picky about it. Well, vampires are always picky with their prey, they would want the best for themselves, the younger or the one in their prime's blood are the best. Will thought to himself as he continue in search for the ruler of vampires. He then realised one thing, the vampires aren't killing and eating, sucking the blood of their prey but instead kidnapping them away and bringing them to a location. He then had a realisation. Could it be-?! Will thought to himself and he look at the entrance of the city. Vampires are retreating with at least a human on their hand. There is only one reason for this, and he has to stop it quick before more humans are taken away. Will casted large rock spells and drop them below the entrance. The vampires that were exiting were hit by the rock, making them drop. The vampire hunters down below then quickly save the human and slaying the vampires.
There's only one reason for this, and that is….! Suddenly, a presence came upon the city as the vampire hunters thought that things were going well. Cynthia slain a vampire and look up front. A silhouette of a masculine body emerge from the mist and reveal himself. He was wearing a Victorian outfit that was faded and bit torn. He has a silky greyish blond hair. His appearance appears young despite his age. He has bright red eyes, similar to the moon light. His skin, similar to the other vampires appear pale.
"My my, looks like our plan is going south, well, I guess this is what you expect from the vampire hunters, but we can't accept loss today, after all, we have a huge event after this, please cooperate with us vampire,"
The vampire spoke to Cynthia who scoffed at his words. She pointed her sword to the vampire and yelled.
"As if I would! You must be the ruler of vampires, quite surprising for the ruler to show up himself, I thought you were timid enough to stay back at your cozy land,"
The ruler of vampires raises his right leg and suddenly appeared in front of Cynthia. He then leaned closer and scratched her face, blood rolls down and drip onto the ground. He then whispered in her ear.
"Your blood is fresh, perfect for the event,"
Cynthia swings her sword at the vampire, but he just teleport away and appeared in front of another vampire hunter.
He then pierced his hand into the heart of the vampire hunter. Removing it from him, killing that man. The vampire sniffed at the heart before squeezing it, exploding the heart as blood burst out.
"Not fresh enough,"
He then dash towards many of the vampire hunters that fails to catch a glimpse of the vampire before getting slain by him. Their heads were severed, blood spattered out of the neck as a pool of blood form with all of the dead bodies on the ground.
"Not fresh,"
The vampire was irritated by that fact and flew around the city, his feet weren't touching the ground. By scent, he can interpret who's blood is fresh is isn't. He then stopped beside Raye who could not catch up with his speed. Raye twitches his eyes and looked at the vampire. A big grin, almost inhumane, you can see the sharp canines so clean which prove that he had not eaten for days.
"You're fresh, too fresh in fact, perfect for the event,"
He then swings his hand down at Raye. There wasn't any hidden blade, just sharp nails that manage to slash Raye. Raye then suddenly loses consciousness and fainted. He almost fell onto the ground but the vampire caught him in time. Cynthia suddenly appeared behind the vampire and swings her sword at him but shockingly, the blade broke upon contact.
"How unpleasant,"
The vampire then also swings his hand at Cynthia, knocking her out like how he did with Raye.
The vampire hunters were at shock of the situation, the vampires using this situation started attacking the vampire hunters, picking the fresh and killing the non.
"How dare you…."
The ruler of vampires turn his head and saw Miljana pointing her revolvers at him. The dim red moon light shone onto the ruler of vampires as he was cover in human blood from face to clothes, creating an unsettling sight for the vampire hunters and the Everlight party.
"You will pay for the sin you've done!"
She then shot the vampires though very less effect on him. She then threw a few grenades, creating a smoke bomb and shooting him from the sides. As she was about to pull the triggers, an air slash sever her right arm, then come her left arm. She fell onto the ground as blood spatters from both sides. Losing both arms, she is left in despair with her tears rolling down from her eyes to her cheeks. The vampire stood in front of her and scoffed.
"Filthy animal,"
He then kicked her on the chin which sends her a few feet back. She tried to stood up but got kicked in the stomach again. She gritted her teeth in agony as the vampire places her right foot on her head. She can feel the pressure he is pressing against her head. She stared into the vampire's dead gaze and spat out saliva and blood, as if she is mocking him.
Before he could burst her head, a dangerous presence came from above which stop every vampires in their track. The vampires suddenly fear that they couldn't move except for the ruler of vampires. The ruler of vampires turn his body towards the presence. The dim moon light shone onto him as asked:
"Who are you?"
"…"
Will didn't say anything. He just stared into the eyes of the vampire with his cold gaze, matching him. The dim red moon light also shines onto Will. They exchange glance for a moment until the ruler of vampires has a face of disgust.
"…you're old, too old,"
Will was taken aback by the vampire's words. He then took a step forward which gave a strong aura to the vampires, finally, the ruler of vampires ordered the other vampires to retreat.
"Looks like dawn has arrived, well then, time to prepare for the feast,"
Some of the vampire hunters try to slay them but had their hands chopped off. Mist filled in and flooded the whole city. When it subside, the vampires are all gone. A golden light break through the horizon, removing the red hue on the ground and shining onto the dreadful city. It was bloody, it was depressing, it was hence its name, 'The Dead City'.
