Mana | Limits and Rules | 'Aspect-ness'

Mana

Mana is the Fundamental Force of the world every Character here is in. In a sense it's just like Matter and at the same time just like Dark Matter. Yet it exists outside both of these categories. Existing Analogous of them. Being separate it cannot be interacted with or by Matter or Dark Matter unless directly applied too it. It also doesn't follow the exact same rules that the Regular Rules of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and other such fields do. Mana is considered a building block of all Universes. While this part is rarely able to be touched or even used. Mana allows for absolutely every possible world that exists. As long as it is logically sound and probable in the rules of physics alongside the changes Mana can give, alongside that, the bending of the rules to allow for different cases of worlds (What would be considered Faster than Light Travel). To be allowed.

Mana is Conserved and Recycled. It gets denser for each realm, it bleeds into thinner ambient Mana. Saying a Techniques name makes it stronger. The more Complex something is, the harder it is to make. Old Techniques will break down at a new realm. Intent and Domains depend on how someone sees themselves.

But, Mana carries Aspects, not the things itself. Mana cannot create a sword. It can make sharpness, hardness, an edge, weight, color or the way light bounces off a surface. A technique is simply a bundle of these such aspects held together by the user's will and comprehension.

Anything simple enough to be described by a few properties is possible. Anything that works because many parts interact. For example, a clock, an organ, or a gun, can't be made, because its function isn't an aspect. But this is only circumvented once at a high enough level.

Manifestation

You can only manifest what you understand. An aspect you don't comprehend comes out blurry, wasteful or simply just doesn't come out at all. Which is where Comprehension comes into play. It determine show many aspects you can bundle into one technique and how precisely you can tune each one.

A Cultivator at the first level of Comprehension could handle two or three aspects, while one on the Seventh Level can hold dozens and adjust them in real time.

This is also why it can be taught. Comprehension begins at 1 for all beings. Regardless of how dumb they can be. It only matters that you can make it grow higher. It is also why the Church gives the techniques out. Being similar to a Sword Art or a Martial Artist teaching those under them.

Mana comes from somewhere and travels through something. The anchor is the Medium. And Each path is an Anchor Type.

Martial Path - The body is the Anchor, it's natural strengths is Speed, Impact, Body Enhancement, and Close Quarters. But it's limit is Short Range.

Valoria Path - The blade is the Anchor, it's strengths are usually Precision, Intent, Cutting or Piercing mostly, and aspects carried on the edge, not the whole. But it's limited to the weapon itself.

Hunter Path - A thrown or ridden object is the Anchor, it's strengths are Range, momentum, tracking, the usage or trajectory and perception, but the limits are that it has to be released, and they'd have to get a way to bring back the Anchor.

Literature Path - The spoken word or Written Word is the Anchor, the strengths are simple rules, conditions, commands, oaths or other such concepts, but they're limited to the speed of the word, being like sound or ink drying.

Arcane Path - The Mind is the Anchor, it's Flexible shapes, range, the application of the world's laws, but it takes time to cast for big bundles of aspects or powerful attacks.

Resonant Path - Sound and Rhythm are the Anchors, they work with internal effects, area support, increasing the power of allies or themself, inducing status effects to others, but it's slow and needs continuous playing.

Undead Path - The Soul is the Anchor, thus their strengths are Soul Attacks, bypassing physical or physiological attacks like punches and kicks, they're also able to move around better, but it strains the user's own soul.

Every Technique on the other hand is set to Dials.

Magnitude - How strong the aspect is

Reach - The Distance or area

Duration - How long it lasts or is held

Complexity - How many aspects are bundled

Cost goes up with all four and down with understanding and density.

Density

Each technique is built for a certain Mana Density. A breakthrough makes your Mana denser, and old structures crack under it. Upgrading it just means rebuilding the Aspect Bundle. Not simply just adding more power.

Dilution is the other half of this. Denser Mana bleeds into thinner Mana around it, so sustained techniques cost more the stronger you are.
