Chapter 29 - Roommates

CHAPTER 27

"Oh hey. I was looking for you all over." Kai's excited voice broke through the noise from the Aspirants as every eyes turned to him walking over towards two people standing side by side and were about making their way forward.

Quickly casting a glance at his watch, the Aspirants all gasped in both shock and horror at the number being displayed boldly on it.

Ray tilted his head to see the tall idiot walking over while a frown crossed his face.

'Damn it! Not this guy again.'

"Come on Van, ignore him and let's quickly go to our rooms." Ray whispered as he pulled Van and they began pushing their way through the crowd aiming to get to their dorms.

Luckily for them both, they were put in the same room leaving them to wonder whom their third roommate would be.

"... Wait. Wait for me." Kai shouted as he began pushing through the Aspirants blocking his path.

As he was pushing them, they began grumbling loudly and were about to retaliate until they cast a glance at his watch making them shut their mouths up.

Meanwhile.

"Excuse me, excuse me." Ray was heard saying as he pushed through the crowd of teens with Van beside him.

"I still don't see the point of running especially since the guy is intent on befriending us."

Ray didn't reply as he kept pushing through the students until.

"Finally caught up with you." The dreaded voice reached Ray's ears the moment he stood before the double doors with Van.

Turning back around, Kai could be seen beaming at them.

"... Are you trying to avoid me? Gray."

"Gray?" Ray lifted an eyebrow in confusion at the name he was just called.

"Come on. Tell me what room you were placed in."

Van wasted no time in replying.

"Dorm five."

Kai's eyes lit up with a wide grin on his face.

"Really? That means you both are my roommate."

Ray's shoulders fell in an instant as he felt the urge of banging his head against a wall at that moment.

'Damn my luck! Why does he have to be our third roommate? Why him of all people here? Why?!'

He felt like crying and cursing loudly but he managed to keep his cool as Kai swiftly roped him into his arms.

"Come on roomie, let's go to our room." He began walking away almost leaving Van alone until he turned around.

"... And you too, Dran."

'Huh? What's with the we… wait! Is he bad at names?' Van mused and almost slapped his face at this thought.

But he just shook his head and followed suit soon falling in line.

Within a few minutes of following the holographic GPS on their watches, they arrived in front of their dorm and wasted no time in walking into it after scanning their watch which also served as an ID of some sorts in this place.

Staring at them was quite the spacious room. At least, compared to Ray's room back at home, this was quite generous.

Three singular beds were spaced out in the room. A reading desk and a chair was in one corner with a lamp stand on it.

Walking in fully, they could see three wardrobes in one side which was ajar and they could see different clothing inside.

Half of the wardrobes were filled with the same attire.

A light brown pants, a white long sleeve and a short deep brown long sleeve jacket that only reached half their back with the image of a fist drawn on the back.

Then the remaining section was filled with causal wears, boots, shoes and even bathroom slippers.

In short, the corps went all out for their own comfort.

On each of the three beds, the same attire was laid out which was the brown pants, white long sleeve and jacket.

"I'm guessing this is the official uniform around this parts huh." Ray mumbled as he walked into the room causally and picked one of the uniform off the bed and gave it a long look.

As they had been walking into the doors, Chuck added one more thing.

Today was their off day and they could spend it as they liked as training would begin tomorrow.

There were other off days and it was given only on Sundays.

With a tired sigh, Ray lifted his head and stared at another door that no doubt led to the bathroom.

"... Woah! This place is huge." Van commented excitedly as he took in the full scope of the room with a twinkle in his eyes.

"Yes it is. Kindly just don't turn it into something else with your junk." Ray shot back as he tossed the uniform back to the bed and then walked off to close a wardrobe therefore claiming it as his.

Van just rubbed his hair with a cheeky smile.

"... I will try. But no promises as I would still need to invent a lot of things."

"It seems like you both have known eachother longer than this." Kai commented with a smile as he plopped on one of the beds casually while staring at the duo.

"Act- actually, we have been best since we were five." Van replied with a stutter as soon as he remembered the aura Kai had exuded while taking the test earlier.

"Oh. That's nice. Hope there's one more slot for me?" Kai asked with a cheeky grin.

"Of…"

"Nope." Ray quickly cut Van off as he turned to glare at Kai with a frown on his face.

"Three is a crowd." He added.

Kai lifted an eyebrow as he turned his gaze to Van.

"Tell me Clan, has he always been this cold?"

"My name isn't Clan…" Van replied as he stared at Kai who just shrugged.

"And for your question, he has not."

Ray just scoffed as he began walking out of the room prompting Kai to quickly shoot out of his bed.

"Wait. Where are you headed?"

"None of your business." Ray callously replied and without hesitation, walked out of the room while slamming the door shut.

Kai was left frozen in confusion as he blinked confusedly at space.

"... Was it something I said?"

Van just shook his head with a sigh.

'Ray… What's wrong with you? Why are you suddenly behaving rudely? Is there something bothering or going through your mind?'
