[Between Day and Night — The Dream]
Darkness, then...Light.
Levin groaned softly as pain tore through every inch of his body as his eyelids fluttered open.
"...Ugh..."
Blinding sunlight struck his vision immediately; he instinctively raised his arm to shield his eyes, but even that simple movement sent a wave of agony through his body.
Slowly his vision cleared, and an endless desert stretched before him. Golden sand extended beyond the horizon. Above him the impossible sky remained unchanged, one half bathed in brilliant daylight.
The others were cloaked beneath the quiet glow of the moon. The sun and moon existed together; neither rose and neither fell.
Time itself seemed frozen. Levin's breathing hitched as he looked around. "Again...why am I here again?"
Fragments of memory crashed into him.
Azhrakaal, the final battle, the sword piercing the Black Serpent Emperor's heart. Then those final moments. Azhrakaal's bloodied hand, dragging him into the abyss.
