The battlefield did not stop. It could not; steel still clashed, and serpents still tore into one another. The earth still shook beneath their colossal bodies.
Yet for one man...time had frozen. Raevahan knelt in the middle of the battlefield. Lady Arinaya rested motionless in his arms, her hair, once always perfectly tied, now danced gently in the bloodstained wind, her eyes remaining peacefully closed as though she had merely fallen asleep.
Raevahan couldn't hear the battle anymore. The screams. The explosions and the roars...everything had become distant; his trembling fingers gently brushed away the strands of hair covering her face.

No answer came, only the cold wind and only silence. Far across the battlefield... Captain Varesh saw him, his heart sank.
