Halfway into her movie, Tanisha heard a loud pounding on the door. She opened it to discover the manager himself delivered the things on her list. He pushed in a cart and she inspected the contents. Finding everything to her liking, she gave him a nod, and he departed with a bow. The Abel Family were the largest investors in this establishment. The couple's satisfaction was vital to their future success.
Before departing the island, she copied the silence ability. She took the top tray and placed it on the floor just inside their door, careful of giving the actual family head the privacy he always desired. She had to admit seeing her brother smile the way he did when he was with her made her happy. She could tell by the sounds in the room, he was still quite happy. She quickly closed the door and returned to her movie with her own tray.
She was accustomed to high-quality meals. Before long, Tanisha was waking up, the movie over. The TV stared back at her, a glowing askance, a prompt requesting further action. Would you like to watch another movie? Listen to music? Play a game? She sat staring into the brightness then realized it was quiet. She turned off the magic box of distraction and listened at the door of the couple. Silence.
She smiled but was still a little nervous as she activated her ability and opened the door. The tray she provided was picked clean so she removed it and placed it on the cart. She then looked deep into the room to discover they were indeed asleep. Kent was stirring on a pillow, encased in Lana's hair like a meatball mixed into a plate of spaghetti. He looked so cute, but she didn't dare go pick him up.
She returned to the cart and picked up another plate. This didn't smell as appetizing. She placed that on the pillow in front of Kent and opened it. His nose twitched, then he jumped up and devoured the meal. Tanisha started collecting pieces of their wedding outfits while he ate. She quickly determined that feeding a baby beast was much easier than picking up after her brother.
She had a list of all the items she was to return home. It took an hour to find all of them. A stocking was on the fan. The garter was hanging off the trash can. His shoe was in the trashcan. His jacket was clear across the room, tossed aside like an immense hinderance. Eventually, all the pieces were collected and placed in the box provided. These were to be given to the manager to be returned home.
It was strange in her mind, the destiny of their clothes. She had seen many movies where the bride passed her dress down to her daughter. This was not the destiny of what they wore when they swore to all those present, they would love each other until death do they part. These clothes were to be placed on the mannequins Gwin created and encased in glass in the treasure room. They would become a monument, a testament of love conquering evil.
She placed the box on the cart as well. The manager would return in the morning. In the meantime, she retrieved her bag from the ship then went to bed. She expected to be busy once they woke up.
Screams from the other room made Tanisha jump out of bed before she realized it was pleasure. She exhaled and stared at her watch. She got 4 hours of sleep. She sighed reluctantly then sent a text stating the second part of the list would be needed soon before jumping in the shower.
She had been lucky. By Barica's rules, her older sister didn't have all her brothers, so Tanisha had to wait. She smiled to herself as the shower washed away the last remnants of sleep that her body wasn't defiled. Her choice as all hers. Thanks to Kyle and Lana.
Exiting the shower, the sounds carried even louder to her ears. She wondered if she would ever find that level of happiness. She got dressed and left her room just as there was a knock at the door. The manager had arrived with another tray. He heard the sounds but pretended not to hear. Tanisha inspected the trays and nodded, passing off the other cart.
He noticed the box, "all the parts are there, correct? I don't want to displease the family."
"I double and triple checked."
"Very good mistress. I'll have it delivered immediately."
"Thank you. I won't keep you from your other duties," she said as she took a deep breath then carried the tray to their door. She listened and it seemed like the coast was clear. She opened the door and placed the tray on the floor.
"Thank you, Tanisha," a tired feminine voice carried to her ears.
Tanisha chuckled, "you're welcome. Does Kent need more to eat?"
A moment of silence, "yes, he could use something. You can look our direction, we're covered up."
"I'll be right back with his food." She left the door open and returned quickly to give Kent his food. "Do you guys want to do anything today or just la… stay in bed?"
Lana laughed, "I just asked him that question!"
Kyle had his head buried in her neck which was covered in marks.
"If you'd like, I can arrange a tour of a botanical garden not far from here. In an hour and a half? It would mean you'd need to get showered and dressed soon…."
At the mention of a botanical garden, Lana threw off the blankets, exposing them both. Tanisha looked away with her face flushed. She didn't want to see that. Lana was running for the bathroom to shower. Her husband was now running after her with a predatory grin. After Kent was done eating, she removed his dishes, exiting as quickly as she could. The sounds were emanating from the bathroom, and she didn't want to hear them…
Two hours later, they had arrived at their destination. Tanisha was pleased her brother was on his best behavior. She was impressed how much he listened to her. She remembered Kyle as being obstinate on the few times he took over the body. He was happy as a child but that changed. She wondered if the magic of love could return him to the person she always knew him as before…
As Kyle escorted his wife, Tanisha ran ahead to get their tickets. By the time they got to the entrance, Tanisha returned with a beautiful bag over her shoulder.
"I wanted you to be able to buy things. I'll be your mule but keep my distance so you can be alone."
Kyle rolled his eyes, but he was smiling.
"Thank you, Tanisha!" Lana smiled and hugged her new sister, "let's go have fun!"
Soon, the trio was walking among flowers and plants, some that had been thought to be extinct. They noticed a sign as they entered the gardens stating the place was heavily funded by Abel Genetics. This told Lana some of the plants were restored. Seeing this place made her appreciate the achievements her new family had made.
Kyle got an earful for two hours on plants he'd never heard of from a short, cute woman who started bubbling with energy the minute they parked. He realized it was important to pay attention a while ago. Between the company and her research, it had become vital for him to learn. It was just hard to pay attention when she was so damned cute!
Soon, they needed to take a lunch break. Tanisha had already been coordinating it, so she escorted them to a VIP dining room. The menus were already in place. They even had a seat for Kent to eat at the table. He seemed quite proud to be part of the family.
After Tanisha got them set up, she turned to leave and allow the staff to do their jobs.
"Stay, Tanisha," Lana said, waving a hand to the empty seat.
"Yes, stay." Kyle said more firmly. He knew this job must have been hard on her. What kind of person would want to accompany a couple on their honeymoon? Normally, a servant would be appointed to tend them, but this was a different circumstance. They were still considered children in some ways. Being married put them in a grey area because they were both under 18. At their current age, they would need to show proof of marriage for simple things like buying a house.
Hearing the finality in her brother's voice, she took a seat. "Do you wish me to order for you?"
Lana chuckled, "we wish you to join us. You've been so great in taking care of us."
Tanisha smiled, "Thank you. I know we're the same age, but you are the family head. I want to do you proud."
"Tanisha, you are not grandmother…"
"I know. But her blood is in all of us. What if I become her?"
"This is why I want the family in counseling," Lana stated.
A waitress entered, taking their orders. Once alone again, Lana continued.
"The only leader of your family member you have all known was Barica, but the Abel Family has a very long and rich history. Do you think you could have achieved such greatness with monsters dominating your DNA? Think about it. Is anyone else a monster? Or are you victims of a monster?"
Tanisha smiled, realizing why her brother loved her so much. "Thank you. I'll make an appointment once we return to school tomorrow."
Lana nodded and smiled. Soon, their food arrived. They ate in silence, each in their own thoughts.
Once they were done, Blaine told Kyle he needed to take her to the shop. They also still needed to open their gifts and document what they received, from whom. Tanisha would handle that part as well. Kyle knew Blaine was right, so he offered his wife his elbow and escorted her to the row of gift shops.
