By late Wednesday evening, the guests had their garments. On Thursday, the bride's maids and groomsmen were fitted. On Friday, the groom, Best Man and the Maid of Honor received their final touches. Everyone on base going to the wedding boarded the ship and was taken to Abel Island. Those who were in the bridal party stayed on the ship and went to the Techno estate. Lana had yet to see her dress.
Cere took Lana into the living room of her home. The rest of the girls were escorted to find a room to rest for the evening and would be called when needed. The week had been hectic but Lana was not permitted to rest yet.
Soon, a robot was escorting in one person after another. Lana recognized one or two of them as members of the World Council. In the old days, there were these things called countries where people ruled over lands and drew lines on a map to depict what land they owned. Now, the places humans resided in were ruled by a council of the strong original families. There was always an odd number to ensure there was no tie in voting.
Currently, there were 5 families in charge. Electra Vigor was the most well-known of those present. The other 4 were Rosco Coltrain, in charge of the military as a whole, Erin Glacies was the head of the ice family, River Flume led the water family, and Braise Incendio headed the fire family.
As each filed in, they were all introduced to Lana. Rosco had a stack of papers and a basset hound with him. Lana had never seen a dog in real life before and he didn't take too kindly to Kent's presence.
"Clyde, stop barking. You've seen beasts before!"
"Allow me, general."
Clyde, Kent is a friend.
He smells of beast and cat!
That doesn't make him bad. He could kill you right now if he wanted to, but he chooses to cuddle instead.
Clyde quit barking but turned his head at an angle, staring at Kent.
Lana was listening to their conversation with a smirk. When they were done, they both looked at Lana expectantly. Clyde was given a peanut butter cookie and Kent got some food to gnaw on. Clyde lay at Lana's feet to eat.
"They have a truce now."
Cere chuckled, "Lana, I invited the leaders here today to meet you because of what your wedding gift is."
Lana raised an eyebrow. What kind of gift requires the world leaders to be present?
"Paul told me what you did on that second portal outing. I want to give you that planet."
Lana's jaw dropped. "I get a whole planet?!"
"IF you can satisfy us that you can handle it," Erin said coldly.
Lana gulped and nodded. "Is that why Clyde is here?"
For the next two hours, they discussed the pros and cons of a teenager owning a planet. They asked Lana to leave the room.
Gwin was waiting for her in the hall. "Let's go see your dress."
Lana grinned, "sounds perfect!"
Outside a room, not very far down the hall, Gwin covered her eyes then opened the door. Gwin walked her into the room, making sure she couldn't see until the right moment. When Lana saw it, she screamed then wrapped her arms around Gwin in a bear hug.
"We need to try it on to make sure everything is good. I'm sure it is but we need to do it for formalities."
Lana nodded, "how do I put this on?"
Gwin chuckled, "that would be the formality…"
For the next two hours, Lana learned how to work the many layers of the amazing work of art she would be wearing tomorrow. She was just getting ready for bed when she had an incoming call.
She smiled, "hello My Love."
Kyle smiled back at her, "hi… I miss you."
Lana chuckled, "I miss you too. Maybe tonight will be our last night apart? We'll try for that to be a goal."
Kyle grinned, "sounds like a good goal. I needed to see your face and hear your voice. I couldn't sleep."
"I just climbed into bed!" Lana chuckled at the expression on his face, "I'll explain it tomorrow but let's sleep now. I love you. See you tomorrow."
"I love you too," Kyle said disconnecting the call. She did look tired. Instead of going to sleep, his mind wandered, I hope she's not too tired tomorrow. She's had such a rough week.
Lana was permitted to sleep until she woke on her own; better described as until Kent woke her. She took care of him then put on simple exercise clothes. She would dress on the ship once they left the Techno Estate. They had a rather large breakfast because they were going to have a busy day.
Lana took her wedding present for Kyle from Dobin. He needed to test it out to make sure it was safe and what she was looking for. She was beyond excited about seeing the look on Kyle's face when he opened it.
Before long, they were all on the ship, leaders included heading to Abel Island. Dilly and Gwin helped her dress and she was glad. Clothing shouldn't be so complicated! Two hours after they landed, everyone was finally ready. Lana kept checking the time. They had her in torture shoes again and she mentally went over the schedule.
Wedding Ceremony
Food and cake
Gift exchange between the bride and groom
Dance
Only then could they leave. She would be permitted to remove some layers of her dress after the ceremony portion was done but she had to endure the torture until they were on the ship to leave. She was also not allowed to sit with the outer layer on.
Kent had his own little shelf to sit on. They made him a jeweled collar that matched her dress and he was eating up the attention.
Finally, they called from outside that everything was ready. Lana didn't pay any attention to the procession of her maids. She wanted these shoes off her feet. It was finally her turn and she carefully took each step. She feared stepping on her dress. Dobin escorted her like a professional. The train was long. There were a few natural-born children on the island who were carrying it for her.
Finally, she was able to turn and see her destination. All the guests stood up but she only had eyes on one person. Kyle had been dressed in white as well. She was looking forward to taking it off him. He looked so incredible.
When Kyle first saw Lana, he couldn't see. Her dress was covered in diamonds. Her tiara had a butterfly with blue, green, yellow and red flanked by two diamond-studded hearts. Attacked to her back was a pair of butterfly wings in the same color and pattern as the tiara. She was stunning and when the light hit a certain way, the sun reflected off her painfully. Kyle didn't mind that at all.
As Lana got to Kyle's side, he was so stunned by her beauty, he dropped to his knee, "I am unworthy."
"Rise Mi Lord and become my betrothed," Lana chuckled
"By your command my Beautiful Butterfly," Kyle said with a brilliant smile as he regained his feet beneath his body, his eyes locked on hers.
They vaguely heard talking around them and the officiator cleared his throat. Lana quickly took her spot.
Kent held her flowers with his back tentacles. His job was to sit on mom's shoulder looking cute until they asked him for a ring. He listened carefully for the cues. He watched as Mom and Dad said some words, their faces glowing with happiness. Soon Dad asked for a ring and Kent promptly turned it over. Then Mom asked and he did the same. Kent lay down, his job was done. Then his parents kissed. Again. Kent decided to take a nap.
Lana and Kyle joined hands and started walking back down the aisle. Lana took a double-take. On the side where her guests were sitting, Karlen was sitting with a beautiful woman. With them were other vampires but one had a really powerful aura. Her smile never faltered but she wondered who this was.
The couple was taken to an area with a scenic background to spend an hour doing wedding photos. They were then taken back to the ship where a few layers were removed. She was permitted to sit while her wings were removed. Her hair was in a perfect bun on the top of her head. Her tiara was resting right in front of it. Kyle paid the ladies helping her no attention.
"You are the image of perfection. Whoever designed that tiara is brilliant. This dress. Everything." He started choking up.
Lana couldn't lean forward but she put her arms out anyway. He knelt and placed his head in her lap and she held him close. "Together forever."
"Forever," he repeated closing his eyes.
Soon, they were given the okay to head to the pergola for the reception. If Lana was impressed with the dishes before, she was even more so now. These had precious metals and jewels embedded in them. These place settings looked timeless, like they were created in ancient times but still fashionable today.
The food was even more incredible than it was the last time she was here. Kyle noticed how impressed she was, "They have cookbooks specifically for celebrations. They seriously step it up, especially for weddings. It's what I was told. I'm glad it's our wedding that got to dust off the old book!"
They cut the cake, very careful not to get any on their faces or clothes. Soon, they got to the part they were both looking forward to.
