Chapter 1 - A recipe for Disaster (1)

Elena was a beautiful girl with long black hair, rosy lips, and white skin like snow. She was considered beautiful and should've been treasured in the family, but she's known as the black sheep. Today was her and her sister's twentieth birthday.

Ironically, her family, especially her siblings and her father, loved their daughter/sister like she was the most innocent thing in the world, but she's going to break that for good.

A wicked smile appeared on her face, and before the mirror was a beautiful face that didn't look capable of harming others.

She put makeup on her face, and the last thing she did was put on crimson lipstick. Her brother knocked on the door, yelling, "Come on, or you'll make Father angry."

Then the footsteps walked away, and she rolled her eyes with annoyance. She got up and grabbed a small bottle behind the mirror, hidden from sight. She placed it in her bra; with a wicked grin, she walked out.

She walked down the stairs, watching everyone sitting and eating with joy on their faces. She smirked, waiting for the show to begin. She sits in the chair in the corner and waits for her family to arrive. Her father entered the room, and a woman with red hair and a black dress walked by his side, and she smiled at her young daughter, who was smiling next to them.

Elena couldn't stand their happy expressions, so she calmly took a cup from the table to calm herself down. When her father sat down, he didn't even greet her or speak to her. He said calmly, "Did you buy a gift for your sister?"

She nodded. "Of course, Father. I wouldn't dare to forget."

"It will be the best gift she will ever receive."

Her father stared at her sharply, but she ignored him. He asked, "What did you get her?"

She shook her head. "That's not fair, Father. It's called a surprise for a reason."

She took out the gift and passed it to her half-sister. Her sister looked innocent and kind, which could be seen on her face. She said with joy, "Oh, thank you, sister!"

She opened the present. Beautiful earrings in the small container made her smile. "Oh, it's so beautiful. Thank you, sister."

She said, "Of course, all the best for my sweet sister."

She tilted her head with curiosity in her eyes. "Did you buy me anything, my sister?"

Her father snorted, "Why do you ask like that? Of course, she brought you something."

Her sister got up from her seat and said, "All right, sister."

She went to sit next to Elena and gave her a large birthday box. Elena wanted to throw it away, but smiled and opened the present. She saw a small necklace, but under the desk, where no one was watching, she clenched her hands tightly. It made her tremble under the table. The necklace looked too similar to the kind her mother had, but looking at her sister and her father, they behaved as if they didn't know what was wrong.

She smiled. "Thank you. I love it."

She closed the box and set it to the side.

She watched her family begin eating the food the servants brought, and holding the small bottle in her hands, she poured the liquid into the glass, where it dissipated quickly. She saw her sister enjoying her food, and her father rose to get up to start speaking. Everyone turned in his direction, listening to him speak.

"Everyone! I like to thank you for gathering for my daughter's birthdays!"

Her sister was paying attention elsewhere, so she switched the glass; her hands felt sweaty. With a calm expression on her face, she waited for him to finish speaking. But he started to show an excited expression that seemed twisted and strange.

Her father's guards entered the room, along with someone being dragged in. The man's hair was ruffled, his beard was nearly stubbled over, and he was unconscious. She watches them drag the large man to the center of the room.

Her father spoke in malicious glee. "This man killed many of our people and is the butcher of our rival's clan. He killed so many people, in the most horrendous ways."

Her father's eyes turned cold and deadly. "Our enemies wanted to conquer us, but they failed. In return, we captured their most proud dog, who will be our prey!"

The words boomed across the room, and the man on the floor, who was unconscious, showed signs of wakening. Her father spoke to some of the men next to him, and thus one of them went to the captured man and kicked him hard in the ribs.

The man was forced to open his eyes, but Elena had a strange sensation in her guts. The man's eyes were wild and untamed. He tried to fight against the men's hold against him, but the more they held him down, the harder he fought.

One of the men knocked him out, and he wasn't moving any longer. Elena noticed some of the tattoos peeking underneath his clothes, so when her father returned to the table. She saw him smiling and tilted his head, letting everyone eat.

She watched her innocent sister grab the glass and take a sip, and Elena smirked in the corner of her lips.

Her father noticed the expression on her face; thus, he asked, "What are you smiling about?"

She shook her head. "I'm just happy. All of us are together and enjoying our food."

He rolled his eyes and turned away from her. She also began eating and drinking from the glass. After an hour, everyone started to leave, and Elena watched her sister, who also turned to her. "Yes, why are you looking at me like that?"

Elena shrugged. "Why can't I look at your pretty face, my sweet sister?"

She chuckled, "Aww, how sweet. Thank you for the present you gave me; I won't forget it."

When Elena walked up the stairs, she started to feel sleepy, and a numbing sensation began in her fingers.
