Night had fallen over Yishu's manor.
She walked with Ningyan and Meishan through the quiet compound, accompanied by several guards as they escorted the pair toward the exit.
Ningyan idly played with the illusion mask in his hand.
Meishan wore a cloak with the hood lowered behind his back for now.
They had chosen to leave quietly without saying a proper goodbye to Hai Miao. Ningyan knew that if the child started crying again, he might not have the heart to leave at all.
"Your sanctuary is currently being occupied by Lan Shiyu, according to my contacts," Yishu said as they walked. "Which means you truly have nowhere to go if you plan to rely on your status as a divine beast prince."
Meishan didn't look surprised at all, as if he had already expected it.
"That's unfortunate," he said calmly. "I thought I could still make use of my status. But I suppose Shiyu is the heir now."
That was all he said.
Yishu, however, looked troubled.
She suddenly stopped walking.
