~{PETER'S POV}~
*
While they began to ask questions, I zoned out as the gravity of her words hit me.
'Chadwick was behind it all'
He should have a good explanation, right?
But what explanation would he give when all he did was lie?
And why would Bridget lie about Lord Quincy being her cousin?
Come to think of it, I never spent time with Lord Quincy, which is why I never built a bond with him. I was mostly with my mother and Lord Chadwick would come over frequently to see my mother and he was the nicest gentleman ever.
Thinking back to everything, I began to see things I never took note of as a child.
Most times, Lord Quincy would visit and bring me gifts but he never made an effort to bond with me the way Lord Chadwick did.
And again, they didn't get the story right about Deborah's mother.
She was a loving woman and Chadwick loved her but the part about her and Lord Quincy having an affair is something I was still trying to understand.
