That was what my instincts told me and I ran without looking back, without caring if anything happened to my child which Deborah was now carrying on my behalf.
All I cared about was getting to that tree as fast as I could and as I ran, I counted my steps with my heart racing hard.

Three
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine
Ten
Eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty…
And the more I counted, the more my heart raced and tears came to my eyes because I had guessed right.
