"It was so terrible that he had her killed."
Ellen's words echoed in my mind repeatedly and I could no longer think straight or breathe properly.
When I had left her, my steps were unsteady and just when I was going to fall, someone held me and I wearily looked up at the person just to find Peter firmly staring down at me.
"Are you alright? Do you need to lay down? We can postpone th-"
"No, I cannot afford to postpone it. It has to be today. I need all the answers today," I firmly said and heard him sigh in worry.
"How is Ruby?"
"Still asleep."
"Who is with her?" He proceeded to ask in a curious and protective manner.
"Ellen," I answered and he nodded in relief before cupping my face and resting his forehead against mine as he inhaled deeply before exhaling.
"Breathe with me, my love," he tenderly instructed and inhaled and he did likewise as we held our breaths and then we exhaled together.
