The chaotic storm of Julian's frantic, deleted notifications had finally subsided into a heavy, lingering silence. There was nothing after that
Rai tossed his phone down onto the plush sofa cushions, letting out a long, exhausted sigh as he rubbed his temples.
Just as he sank further into the soft fabric, bracing his eyes closed to catch a brief moment of peace, the phone buzzed against the leather cushion.
The low vibration rattled against his thigh. Rai tensed instinctively, his spine snapping straight. He braced himself for another accidental leak maybe a defensive, rambling outburst from Julian.
But when he picked up the phone and glanced at the glowing lock screen, the contact name made his chest tighten for an entirely different reason. It wasn't Julian.
It was the person he had actually been expecting all along.
The bastard himself.
