The morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains of the hotel room, casting long, pale squares of light across the carpet. Rai was already up and washed, his skin still holding the faint chill of the morning air.
He paced the room restlessly, his gaze drifting out the window to the rolling landscape outside. Mist clung to the valleys below, blurring the sharp edges of the distant hills. He was waiting for Zade, who had slipped out somewhere a while ago.
They wouldn't be spending much time at the hotel today. Rai leaned against the glass, tracing a finger along the frame.
'He said they were planning to pay a visit to the strawberry farm on the first day', Rai recalled.
Turning away from the view, he sat back down on his own bed. His eyes involuntarily darted to Zade's side of the room. The sheets on that bed were pristine, completely unwrinkled and perfectly made.
He scoffed softly to himself. Of course, it was neat, nobody had actually slept in it.
