When Zade finally left the room after spending an extra half hour with the boy, a stark realization hit him.
This was reality.
The kid wasn't unfazed. He had only seemed surprised, not at the news itself, but at the timing. Even that reaction had only lasted for a fleeting moment at the very beginning.
After that, nothing. He didn't seem worried at all. Or, at the very least, he wasn't showing it.
'Now, how am I going to explain this to Rai?'
Zade remembered how Rai had literally cried for this kid, yet the boy hadn't shed a single tear at the news.
'Aren't you too soft, Rai? How can you get hurt so easily, and over other people's lives at that?' Zade sighed, rubbing his temples as he now, after lunch, walked back into the office after finishing a surgery.
It wasn't long before his colleagues started trickling back in. Speaking of his colleagues, the guys had been incredibly impatient to question him the moment he returned that day.
