Oh really? Were you planning to do it secretly? Or tell me after it all finished? Or never?
Rai swallowed hard as he stared at Zade's message glowing across the screen.
This was the only reponse he got after he sent Zade an explanation about the interview.
And, even through plain text, the disappointment was obvious.
And somehow, that felt worse than anger.
What was he planning to do exactly?
Tell him after the interview ended? Mention it casually once the girl arrived? Pretend it was unimportant because Zade would supposedly be away on leave anyway?
At the time, it had made sense in his head.
Zade wasn't going to be home. It was just an interview. Nothing major.
But now,
Now Zade had suddenly canceled those assumptions with one message after another, and Rai could practically feel the irritation radiating through the phone.
And honestly?
Rai couldn't even be properly angry back.
Because beneath the irritation, there was guilt.
A little fear too.
