After Dax ended the call, his assistant looked at him in confusion.
"My Lord, you're giving Marshal Vangar such a huge share of the profits. Why didn't you take the opportunity to ask him to help you return to Rory's side?"

After salaries and operating expenses were deducted, there would be very little left.
From the assistant's perspective, their Lord was practically working for free.
Dax smiled. "I'm entering a business partnership with them. It has nothing to do with the Female Master."
His gaze drifted toward the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sleeping city.
"If I had really made that request, how would I be any different from what I've done in the past?"
Not to mention that neither Vangar nor Vincent would ever agree to such a condition.
More importantly, if he crossed that line, he would likely lose any chance of getting close to her again.
Dax pulled a document from his desk and tossed it toward his assistant.
