Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: The Black Snake Takes Action and Kills the Ghost Tyrant in Seconds

Upon seeing the signal flare in the distance, Mu Nianbing immediately urged the Cangming Jiao toward the city.

On his way back, he happened to encounter Mo Fan, who was locked in a fierce battle against a Corpse General wielding a rusty iron spear.

This Iron Spear Corpse General was a Great Warrior-Level creature—fast, agile, and deadly.

Even with the help of his Swift Star Wolf, Mo Fan was struggling to keep up.

If not for his Shadow Element granting him a significant advantage in the darkness, his body would have been riddled with holes long ago.

"Help, Brother Bing!" Mo Fan shouted the moment he saw Mu Nianbing riding the flood dragon.

A spark of interest flickered in Mu Nianbing's eyes. This Iron Spear Corpse General moved with the discipline of a true soldier.

If trained properly, it could potentially evolve into a Commander-Level creature—an excellent addition to his forces.

"Ice Spread!"

Mu Nianbing raised his hand. The chilling force of ice burst outward, instantly freezing the surrounding ground in a frost domain powerful enough to rival a field spell.

The Iron Spear Corpse General, standing at the center, froze solid in a heartbeat. Even Mo Fan, who was fighting at the edge, shuddered under the biting cold.

"My Rose Flame is being suppressed—by more than half!" Mo Fan exclaimed in disbelief.

His Rose Flame was a top-tier Spirit Seed, yet Mu Nianbing's Ice Element was overwhelming it effortlessly.

Could it be… that his Ice Seed had reached Soul Seed level?

Mo Fan didn't know much about such things, but even he understood that a Soul Seed was unimaginably rare—and far beyond his means.

"Don't just stand there. Get on!"

While Mo Fan was still dazed, Mu Nianbing had already subdued the frozen Corpse General and bound it under his command.

Snapping out of it, Mo Fan leapt onto the Cang Ming Flood Dragon's back and recalled his Swift Star Wolf.

Mu Nianbing didn't bother checking if Mo Fan was seated properly before commanding the dragon to soar back toward the city at high speed.

After returning, Mu Nianbing didn't join Mu Bai and the others. Instead, after sending them a message, he flew straight to the North Main City Tower.

The tower, located beside the North Outer City Gate, was already overflowing with people by the time they arrived—both inside and outside the walls.

"Intermediate Mages and above, come up to the city tower. The rest, remain where you are and await orders!"

A commanding voice echoed from above.

"Nianbing," Mo Fan muttered uneasily, "this doesn't look good. Do we really have to get involved?"

"Stop complaining," Mu Nianbing replied coldly. "If the undead swarm the city, no one in the outer districts will survive."

That was enough for Mo Fan. The moment he realized it involved his own safety, he stopped protesting.

The two followed the other Intermediate Mages up the tower and gathered in a large hall that overlooked the dark land beyond the city.

"Is this everyone?"

A calm, authoritative voice echoed through the hall. A man in a long robe descended the staircase—Councilman Zhu Meng of the Magic Court.

Upon seeing Mu Nianbing, Zhu Meng's expression shifted slightly—somewhere between relief and resignation.

"This kid again…" he muttered under his breath.

"It's Councilman Zhu Meng!" someone exclaimed.

The mages quickly straightened and saluted.

For most of them, it was a rare honor to even see a Super-Level Mage, let alone stand beside one of the Magic Court's Councilmen.

Zhu Meng nodded and walked to the edge of the hall. He pointed northward, his expression grave.

"I'm grateful for your quick response. Unfortunately, I bring grim news."

He paused, his tone heavy.

"Thirty kilometers north of the city—an Evil Abyss has appeared."

The hall fell silent.

An Evil Abyss—so close to the Ancient Capital? If it drifted any closer, it could swallow the entire city.

Zhu Meng quickly issued orders: every mage on the city walls was to hold their ground and defend against the incoming undead to protect the Ancient Capital at all costs.

No one objected. Even the most reluctant mages knew this was their home—their last line of defense.

And to the younger mages, fighting alongside Zhu Meng himself was an honor beyond measure.

A thunderous roar suddenly erupted from the heavens. The ground shook violently, and the city walls trembled under the force.

"Ghost Tyrant!" Zhu Meng shouted, his eyes locking on the massive shadow in the clouds. His expression turned grim.

Moments later, Hunter King Du Xiao appeared beside him. Seeing this, Zhu Meng solidified his decision to take the offensive.

Just as he was preparing his orders, Mu Nianbing stepped forward.

"Councilman Zhu Meng, I can deal with the Ghost Tyrant."

The room fell silent.

Everyone stared at him in disbelief. Even Zhu Meng blinked, wondering if he'd misheard.

"Are you out of your mind, kid?" Zhu Meng barked. "That thing isn't something you can handle!"

Mu Nianbing's lips twitched. Zhu Meng's words were as sharp as ever.

"This is the Totem Pearl," Mu Nianbing said, producing a luminous orb. "The Totem Black Serpent is sealed inside."

Gasps rippled through the hall.

Zhu Meng's eyes widened slightly. Of course—he knew what that meant.

The Totem Black Serpent was a being that could even suppress the Silver Sky Lord with ease.

"You… actually managed to borrow the Totem Black Serpent?" Zhu Meng said, half in disbelief, half in admiration. "Impressive."

Still, he frowned. "The Ghost Tyrant is far too dangerous. Give me the Totem Pearl—I'll handle it."

Mu Nianbing gave him a long, unimpressed look.

"Councilman Zhu Meng, the Totem Black Serpent doesn't exactly like you. It'd be a miracle if it didn't attack you on sight."

Zhu Meng froze, then coughed awkwardly.

Right—he had tried to capture the serpent in Hangzhou once. That probably didn't leave a good impression.

"But even so, isn't it too risky for you to face the Ghost Tyrant with just the Totem Black Serpent?"

Mu Nianbing smirked. "Tell me, Councilman—who's stronger, the Silver Sky Lord or the Ghost Tyrant?"

"The Silver Sky Lord, of course—" Zhu Meng paused mid-sentence, realization dawning on him.

He slapped his forehead and laughed sheepishly. "Right. Forget I said anything."
