Commander Wu wasn't simply stating a foreseeable future, but warning them to be prepared. Imagining that another big disaster might fall was enough to silence Commander Duan and Major Chang.
The frail, sickly commander closed his eyes briefly. Then he exhaled a slow and resigned sigh, murmuring, "Dangerous times. Every step we take feels like walking a thin line over an abyss. Don't you think so?"
Major Chang's frown deepened. He glanced at the vials of 'poison' that should have been nothing more than water, then his eyes fell on his direct superior.
"Commander Wu... If a healer can't restore Commander Duan's core, isn't there any other way? He's improving, yes, but not enough. The damage can't be healed with our ability."
Commander Wu didn't answer immediately. His gaze shifted to Commander Duan. Though the latter was still frail, his sheer willpower hadn't held him back.
