[Before Ashrik's return]
The space was lively that evening. With Ashrik gone to the north and the air tinged with worry, the others tried to keep the ambiance warm and steady.
Hazel and Regina went to the smaller cottage, helping Lucille prepare dinner. They worked together, switching from the kitchen to the table in the yard.
As for Felix and Isaac, the ladies had already handed them the task of washing dishes later. Oh, including setting up the table for dinner.
Regina chopped vegetables while Hazel kept humming as she whisked the eggs in a bowl. Lucille was tending to the pans and pots on the stoves.
Felix and Isaac were loudly arguing over which and how many plates to use. It ended only after the young healer shot them a look that could freeze lava. Then, they hurried to set the table.
