The next morning, Lucille stirred awake when something warm and furry pawed at her cheek. She let out a groan before slowly opening her eyes, only to find two pairs of bright eyes belonging to Dobby and Ponyo.
"Woof! Woof!"
The two giant, mutated Pekingese dogs wagged their tails as they howled. Their happy barks rang in the room, completely waking the young lady up.
"You two again? Being my alarm clocks ah," Lucille murmured with a sleepy laugh. She moved her hand from under the blanket, reaching to scratch their soft ears. "Alright, alright, I'm up."
Ponyo yapped proudly while Dobby twirled in a small circle. The gray fluffy dog still wore a grumpy look even when he was clearly pleased. The excited flicking of his tail betrayed him.
Lucille sat up, her hair tumbling over her shoulders. The faint golden light filtered through the little gap between the curtains, painting the quiet room in warmth.
