The Five-Eyed Monster instinctively turned his head and saw a 1.9-meter-tall, bare-chested creature whose limbs were covered in white fur, whose forehead sprouted a single White Horn, and in whose chest sat a Bead. The Monster's gaze was ice-cold.
"L-Lieutenant Li!" The Five-Eyed Monster addressed Li Yong, both frightened and thrilled.
Ignoring him, Li Yong strode straight at Gong Man, who was mowing through the crowd.
Whoosh! At full sprint Li Yong was a white bolt of lightning amid the chaotic battle.
The speed drew Luo Yulong's attention; he roared, "Stop him!"
"Let me!" The portly middle-aged man closest to them stepped into Li Yong's path, iron shovel in hand.
Li Yong's icy gaze brushed past the blocker; his left hand flicked, sending a tiny white spark over the man's shoulder to land beside Gong Man.
Enraged that he was ignored, the fat man bellowed, "Who do you think you're looking down on?"
He swept the shovel in a crushing horizontal arc, certain this human-sized Monster couldn't withstand the blow.
Behind him Gong Man raised her palm, loosing a gray beam at Li Yong, her face savage. "Let's see you survive a double physical-mental strike!"
"Too slow." Li Yong glanced at the roaring fat man; his right hand blurred into a white phantom across the man's face.
Splat! Blood blossomed on the fat man's cheek, and Li Yong vanished the instant it appeared.
Whoosh! Li Yong reappeared at Gong Man's left, his blood-slicked right hand sweeping across her neck.
Splat! A head flew; Gong Man's smirk still lingered, though her widening eyes betrayed her shock.
Li Yong was so fast—plus that broken Teleport—that he killed two Level Four Deputy Group Leaders in under a second.
Thud! The fat man with the shovel collapsed; Monsters facing him saw five deep gashes from eyes to nose, brain-matter seeping out.
Both Monsters and Awakened froze at the sight of two Level Four deputies insta-killed.
One second she was unstoppable, the next she was dead; the dissonance was surreal.
Someone studied Li Yong and gasped, "Li Yong, Cadre of the Monster Association!"
"All Level Fours, with me—kill him!" Luo Yulong roared, spear in hand, charging first.
Close behind, the white-suit, red-eyed youth also rushed Li Yong.
Two more Level Fours joined; among them Luo Yulong and the red-eyed youth were top-tier Level Fours—only they could hold Li Yong in check.
Li Yong regarded the four onrushing Level Fours with calm, then surged to meet them.
On the building's right stood six Level Fours, their expressions grim.
Facing them, a five-meter-tall skeleton whose lower body was a snake's spine held a pair of ultra-hard bones, trading blows.
Mo Yu, twenty meters tall, crossed his forearms to fend off the raining bone strikes.
Bang-bang-bang! Every impact bruised Mo Yu's arms. "Hurry up! I'm about to be beaten to death!"
Around the skeleton the other deputies blasted energy rays or slashed with weapons, all aimed at its frame.
Clang-clang-clang! Yet the attacks only rang like metal on metal, leaving not a scratch.
"Can't dent it—why are its bones so tough?" The Second Group's deputy, now a three-meter Muscle-Man, growled.
His fists pummeled the bone, once able to tear steel, now only thudding dully; the recoil hurt his own hands.
The Undead Skeleton ignored the surrounding assault, focused solely on Mo Yu.
Its bones were assembled from failed test specimens in the lab—ultra-high-strength remains.
Defense nearly rivaled Level Five physique types; offense was lacking—only bone-clubs to swing.
Bang-bang-bang!
While the Xuanjian Division's Level Fours besieged the skeleton, heavy footsteps echoed from afar.
Mo Yu and the rest glanced over to see a Four-Meter Purple Monster sprinting toward them.
Everyone's face paled at the sight.
At command center, Level Fives down to Level Twos were all under Monster assault; neither side could finish the other quickly.
Seven or eight kilometers away, on an avenue, Fang Wenyu's group spotted the Butterfly Monster in the sky.
Wan Tianhong looked at his dead phone and frowned. "The Monster Association disables every electronic device the moment they move—their methods improve fast."
Qin Musheng eyed the empty street, puzzled. "Cutting our network? All group leaders are gathered in two spots; victory still depends on raw power."
Jiang Ao stood gloomily, silent, tightening his grip on the corpse's clothes.
Fang Wenyu looked around, eyes flickering. "Whatever they're planning, we regroup with Ruan Meng first; numbers will blunt the Association's assault."
"Right, let's move—we've been out of contact for several minutes," Cao Li agreed.
"Go? Go where? Stay and play with me!" Before Cao Li finished, a cocky voice rang out.
They turned to the street's end where a Monster with arms, legs, and a comical human face—plus a protrusion on its head—approached.
Sensing it was so weak it didn't even reach Level Four, Qin Musheng sneered, "A talking dick-Monster dares bark at us? Know who you're facing?"
