Chapter 8 - Ghost Scripture

Yuan Kui's eyes revealed despair. He hadn't expected to be defeated by a kid who had only just undergone his first awakening.

Jiang Yan ignored what he was thinking. He decided to use this suddenly appearing middle-aged man to test his ability. With a shift of his will, the Ghost Buddha beside him began to move its lips.

"Amitabha, formless and selfless."

"Sentient beings are like dust, feeding my ultimate bliss."

"One false thought arises, and the Red Lotus burns the body."

"The Five Aggregates are all empty, only feeding my Buddha."

---- (Purely fictional)

Sections of wicked scripture entered Yuan Kui's ears. His eyes began to glaze over, and his lips started moving, reciting along.

"Amitabha, formless and selfless."

"Sentient beings are like dust, feeding my ultimate bliss."

As he recited, the body that was originally being controlled returned to normal under Jiang Yan's gaze.

A look of fanaticism appeared on Yuan Kui's face, and he loudly chanted the scripture: "One false thought arises, and the Red Lotus burns the body. The Five Aggregates are all empty, only feeding my Buddha."

His hands, covered in Alloy Gloves, suddenly shot out and grabbed both sides of his face.

Tear! Blood splattered!

Outside the street, Wang Xiaoye, who had chased away the shop owner, heard Jiang Yan's laughter and the sound of her master chanting coming from inside the shop. Her expression changed slightly: "Did something happen!"

Moving her feet, she rushed toward the entrance of the barbecue shop, holding her pistol.

Just as she reached the doorway, Wang Xiaoye witnessed a scene she would never forget.

Her master was kneeling before the criminal Jiang Yan, a large amount of blood streaming down his body. He was mumbling the scriptures, and his hands, wearing the Alloy Gloves, continuously tore off the flesh from his body and threw it onto the ground.

As soon as the flesh hit the ground, it vanished, as if something had consumed it.

Just as Wang Xiaoye was stunned, Jiang Yan looked at her with icy eyes.

Facing such a bizarre sight and meeting Jiang Yan's gaze, she felt her legs turn to jelly. Even with the gun in her hand, she forgot to fire immediately.

"You... what exactly are you?" Wang Xiaoye stammered, her face deathly pale.

"Me?" Jiang Yan looked at Wang Xiaoye, the corner of his mouth curving slightly upward.

"Amitabha, formless and selfless. Sentient beings are like dust, feeding my ultimate bliss."

The next moment, Wang Xiaoye suddenly heard bursts of chanting... Half an hour later, Jiang Yan walked calmly down the small town street, holding a box of fried rice and eating as he went.

After dealing with the two people, Jiang Yan went to the wok outside and made himself something to eat.

Clackety-clack!

As he walked forward, the sound of a train passing in the distance reached him.

Jiang Yan looked at the train station appearing in the distance, a thoughtful expression on his face. He had originally thought that having the Ghost Buddha meant he could act recklessly, but the sudden appearance of the man and woman brought him back to reality.

'It seems this world runs deep. Things ordinary people can't access are hidden beneath the surface.'

Thinking this, he quickened his pace toward the train station: 'Before I have the power to protect myself, I can't be too high-profile!'

If the Ghost Buddha hadn't given him a warning earlier, he might have ended up as a corpse.

With that thought, Jiang Yan easily climbed over the train station fence and entered.

The Lanqing Town Train Station is one of Haizhou's important transportation hubs. From here, one can take a train to any of the thirteen states of Nanwu Country.

Clackety-clack!

A freight train was approaching from the front. Jiang Yan quickly rushed over, and when it had passed halfway, he grabbed the nearby railing and climbed onto the roof of the carriage.

The train did not stop but continued moving forward. Jiang Yan lay on the roof, gazing at the stars in the sky, letting his mind wander.

He didn't know where the train was heading, nor did he know what his future would become... Hoo—!

On the barbecue street in Lanqing Town, two police cars quickly stopped shortly after Jiang Yan left.

The local Inspector Point's Captain, holding a pistol, led four or five Inspectors cautiously toward the barbecue shop.

"Captain, it looks like no one is there. They didn't run away, did they?" an Inspector nearby whispered, looking at the barbecue shop.

They had rushed over immediately after receiving a report from the barbecue shop owner saying that someone was causing trouble while holding a firearm.

The leading Captain was a thirty-year-old youth. He didn't reply immediately to his team member but continued to approach cautiously.

As he neared the entrance, his nose twitched, and his expression changed slightly: "Such a strong smell of blood!"

He quickly stepped closer, and the scene inside the barbecue shop appeared before his eyes.

Seeing the scene before him, his pupils contracted, and he immediately ran to the side of the road and began vomiting: "Ugh! Ugh, ugh!"

The Inspectors behind him exchanged glances. Then, a slightly older one walked forward, teasing him while trying to see what was wrong: "What's wrong, Captain? You've been an old Inspector for seven or eight years, and you're still like this?"

Just as he reached the doorway, he also froze. Before him.

were two naked corpses, kneeling facing the entrance with peaceful smiles on their faces. Their eyes were just bloody sockets, their skin was intact nowhere, covered in tearing marks, and bones were exposed.

Their stomach areas had been roughly ripped open, and their internal organs spilled onto the floor. What terrified him the most was.

The two corpses had their arms stretched out, palms up, each holding an eyeball that stared directly at the doorway.

"Ugh!" After just a brief look, he also couldn't help running to the side street to vomit.

It was too bloody. Even he, who had seen many corpses, couldn't handle it.

When day arrived, the street near the barbecue shop was immediately sealed off.

Li Pubin rushed over with his men. At this point, his expression was no longer just solemn—it was confused and panicked.

Early in the morning, before he had even gotten up, a call came in reporting the discovery of two horribly mutilated corpses in Lanqing Town.

Their vehicle was found nearby, and Special Department IDs were discovered inside, bearing the names Yuan Kui and Wang Xiaoye.

Arriving at the entrance, the two corpses had already been covered with white sheets.

He lifted one of the white sheets to look again. Although the male corpse's face was mangled, he recognized immediately that this was Yuan Kui, the man he had met yesterday.

"What the hell! Is Jiang Yan that terrifying?" he muttered to himself.

Li Pubin felt his legs starting to weaken: "I must report this!"
