Chapter 13 - CH.13

In outer space,Thanos watched the scene on that planet through a three-dimensional projection.

The Dark Order had completely overwhelmed the Asgardian gods.

Yet Thanos showed no joy. Instead, his expression grew solemn.

These were merely ordinary Asgardian soldiers, and yet their combat strength was four to five times greater than that of the Dark Order warriors. Even in death, each of them could take down more than a dozen Dark Order soldiers.

This war was going to be far more difficult than expected.

After gaining a rough understanding of the Asgardians' overall strength, Thanos shut off the projection. He continued cultivating while holding the Mind Stone.

After more than a year of training, he had fully endured the Mind Stone's backlash and could now use its power freely, without any side effects.

It had to be said—as a mutated Eternal Titan, his body's potential was truly terrifying.

Aside from his relatively weak mental strength, he had almost no other flaws.

This weakness was evident in the Avengers films. In Infinity War, Thanos had once been controlled by Mantis. If Star-Lord hadn't punched him awake, Avengers: Endgame might never have happened.

But now, with the Mind Stone in his possession, his mental power was rapidly increasing, and that weakness no longer existed.

On the battlefield below, Ebony Maw personally joined the slaughter after witnessing the Asgardians' strength.

His current power far surpassed what he had shown in the movies.

With a simple manipulation of the ground, several resisting Asgardian warriors were instantly swallowed whole.

After his arrival, all remaining resistance on the planet was swiftly wiped out.

Whether Asgardian or native, anyone who dared resist was killed without mercy.

Once the carnage ended, Ebony Maw began arranging for resource transport ships to descend.

Iron ore, copper ore, silver ore—everything of value was collected.

If a force wanted to establish a long-term presence in the Milky Way, it was impossible to rely solely on resources transported from its home world.

Using local materials greatly reduced travel time and energy consumption.

At the same time.

At the center of the Milky Way—

There existed a magical land.

Not a planet.

A continent.

Driven by extravagance and a desire to display their power, the Asgardians had destroyed an entire planet, then used magic and advanced technology to reshape its remains into a vast, flat continent.

This continent was called Asgard.

Asgard covered an area of roughly two hundred million square kilometers. In addition to the main city of Asgard itself, there were eight satellite cities.

These eight cities represented the eight major races under Asgardian rule, aside from the Asgardians themselves—and symbolized Odin's achievements in unifying the Nine Realms.

At this moment, Odin was enjoying his daily indulgences within the palace.

Beautiful women surrounded him. Some peeled fruit, others offered wine.

In front of him, dancers in revealing attire moved gracefully to soft music.

Whenever Odin felt the urge, he would casually pull a nearby woman—or one of the dancers—into his embrace.

No one found this strange.

Many of the women even wished for his attention.

Being favored by Odin was a source of pride.

If one happened to become pregnant, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she could rise to great power overnight.

Unfortunately, not everyone could conceive Odin's child.

And even if they did, surviving long enough to enjoy that fate was another matter entirely.

After all, Odin's lawful queen—Frigg—was no ordinary woman, but a powerful witch.

At this point, Odin could be said to have reached the pinnacle of his life.

And he had every reason to be proud.

Though Asgard ruled the galaxy, it did not originally control everything.

When Odin inherited power from his father, Asgard's influence was already declining.

Humans, dwarves, dark elves, and frost giants were all formidable enemies.

Through deception, he convinced the dwarves that their only role was to serve as blacksmiths for Asgard, generation after generation.

He sealed away humanity's ancestors, banished the dark elves, and conquered the frost giants.

Thus, he unified the Nine Realms and became the undisputed overlord of the Milky Way.

Although the galaxy contained over two hundred billion stars, only around one hundred million were suitable for life—and far fewer could produce intelligent species.

Odin had never bothered counting the exact number.

Planets without intelligent life, or those too weak to resist, were insignificant. Resources were harvested every few years, and that was the end of it.

If a civilization showed signs of development—

It was exterminated.

This was why rebellions never ceased.

Before Odin's rise, only nine major factions had reached the pinnacle of development and ventured into the universe.

Thus came the saying: Ruler of the Nine Realms.

To unify those nine powers was to unify the Milky Way itself.

Yet even at the height of his power, Odin was not without troubles.

Loki—originally taken hostage—had somehow learned of his true parentage and was beginning to show signs of betrayal.

Left with no choice, Odin used Thor to cast Loki into a wormhole, eliminating a future threat.

However, this action caused the frost giants, who had lived peacefully for many years, to stir with thoughts of rebellion.

Laufey had been making suspicious moves recently.

Just as Odin was considering whether to use the Bifrost to annihilate the frost giants entirely, an Asgardian warrior hurried into the hall.

"God King, the resource gathering team has sent back urgent intelligence."

Odin snapped back to attention.

Still lounging lazily, he accepted another piece of fruit from a woman beside him and asked casually,"What is it?"

After thousands of years of rule, comfort had made him complacent.

His first thought was that some indigenous race had rebelled again.

With Thor by his side, there was nothing to worry about.

Thinking of his son, Odin felt a trace of helplessness.

Thor was powerful—but unfortunately, not very clever. He hadn't inherited Odin's intelligence at all.

The reporting soldier, unaware of Odin's wandering thoughts, spoke anxiously."The Thirty-Seventh Squad went to the Spirit Rhinoceros Planet to collect resources, but they suddenly lost contact."

Odin waved his hand dismissively."Seems the natives have produced a few stronger individuals. Send Thor."

To him, anything not reported by Heimdall was a trivial matter, not worth interrupting his enjoyment.

The soldier nodded helplessly and turned to leave.

But at that moment—

A two-meter-tall black man with cat-like eyes strode into the hall.

He was Heimdall—Guardian of the Rainbow Bridge, and Odin's most important eye watching over the galaxy.
