Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 – Truth Buried, Monsters Rise, and Deals Are Forged

"Tony, we're here."

The sharp rev of engines cut through the tension as three motorcycles screeched to a halt nearby, their arrival perfectly timed with the escalating standoff. Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton dismounted in one fluid motion, stepping into the chaos as if they had always belonged there.

"We're sorry we're late," Natasha said smoothly, brushing it off with practiced ease. "We didn't have transport ready. Had to improvise at the last minute."

Before she could continue, Tony Stark cut her off, his tone sharp and impatient. "Perfect timing. You can help settle this."

Without giving anyone else a chance to speak, Tony launched into his version of events, his words flowing with confidence and authority. In his narrative, the monstrous Curt Connors wasn't a savior—he was a threat. A dangerous accomplice to a supervillain who had nearly killed an innocent girl.

Tony, of course, was the hero who had arrived just in time.

And now, unbelievably, the police chief wanted that "criminal" released.

"Chief George," Steve said, stepping forward with a solemn, righteous expression, "you've always stood for protecting the public. But we can't hand over a dangerous super-criminal like this."

The weight of his words hit hard, carrying the authority of a symbol people trusted without question.

George Stacy staggered slightly, the certainty he had moments ago beginning to waver. He believed his daughter—he truly did—but standing here, surrounded by the Avengers, hearing their unified stance, it became harder to hold that belief without doubt creeping in.

He turned toward Gwen Stacy, searching her face.

Tears filled her eyes, but her voice didn't break this time. "I'm not lying," she said firmly.

Clint scoffed lightly, exchanging a glance with Natasha. "Kid, what do you even know about situations like this?" he said, his tone dismissive. "Tony left the press conference to come here. You think that was for fun?"

Natasha folded her arms, adding calmly, "He came to protect civilians. That's what matters."

In just a few sentences, the narrative was sealed.

The Lizard. The cyborg symbiote. Both villains.

Iron Man. The hero who stopped them.

Simple. Clean. Undeniable.

Who would question it?

Would you challenge Captain America's shield? Would you argue against Hawkeye's aim? The implication hung unspoken but heavy.

On the ground, Connors heard everything.

Each word struck deeper than any physical blow. He had risked himself to save a life, had endured pain without hesitation—and now he was being painted as the villain.

Worse, the girl who had tried to speak the truth was being dismissed, her voice drowned out by louder, more powerful ones.

His chest rose and fell, his breathing uneven as something inside him began to fracture.

Was this justice?

Was this punishment?

Or was it simply the price of becoming something monstrous?

He had only wanted to help people. To heal. To bring even a sliver of light into a world that desperately needed it.

But now, that last fragment of hope was being ripped away.

And with it, something darker took its place.

"I'll make you pay!!!"

The roar tore from his throat, raw and filled with fury.

Tony didn't flinch. If anything, he smirked behind the mask. "See? I knew this thing wasn't right. Still talking back like a criminal."

Steve raised his shield high, his voice booming with conviction. "Crush evil!"

They moved as one.

Fists. Kicks. Blows that came down without hesitation.

Connors, exhausted and already injured, was overwhelmed. His massive form staggered under the relentless assault, scales splitting, blood spilling as he was driven back again and again.

There was no restraint.

No hesitation.

Only force.

And then—

Something snapped.

Connors' body began to change, muscles swelling as his frame expanded at an alarming rate. His already towering form grew larger, more massive, until he stood like a prehistoric beast reborn.

Eight meters tall.

A creature ripped straight out of the age of dinosaurs.

His eyes, now cold and predatory, locked onto a single target.

Tony Stark.

Far away, inside an ancient stone castle, a different conversation unfolded.

Ivan Vanko stood before a man whose presence felt almost unreal, his expression a mix of confusion and curiosity. "Sir… are you saying my revenge against Iron Man isn't finished yet?"

The man—Li Xuan—leaned slightly, his gaze calm as he gestured toward the chaos displayed before them.

"As long as Tony Stark still has the will to fight," he said evenly, "then your revenge hasn't reached its end."

His tone was quiet, but the meaning behind it was sharp.

"Real revenge isn't just about damage. It's about breaking someone completely—destroying their will, their pride, everything they stand on."

Ivan's eyes widened slightly, understanding dawning.

So that was the goal.

Not just defeating Tony—but ruining him.

"If Stark Industries collapses," Ivan murmured, his voice gaining intensity, "if everything he's proud of is crushed into nothing…"

A grin spread across his face.

"That would be perfect."

He nodded eagerly, excitement building. "You're right. This is far beyond what I was thinking. But… can we really bring down Stark Industries on our own?"

"Who said we're alone?" another voice cut in.

Otto Octavius looked up from his work, his mechanical arms shifting behind him as he spoke.

"Hammer Industries has been at odds with Stark for years," he explained. "The plan is simple. We use Justin Hammer's resources to develop new armor tech, let him clash with Congress and Tony Stark… and we take what we need from the fallout."

Ivan blinked, stunned.

Then he laughed.

"This… this is brilliant."

The scale of it, the ambition—it was intoxicating.

"Ivan," Li Xuan said casually, glancing at his phone, "get ready. Justin's about to arrive."

Meanwhile, in the conference room of Milcom Industries, Danny Rand stood at the head of the table, greeting representatives from Hammer Industries with practiced politeness.

Across from him, Justin Hammer was already losing patience.

"Can we skip the formalities?" Justin interrupted, tapping his fingers against the table. "Where are the people who built the armor? That's why I'm here."

Danny's smile tightened slightly, irritation flickering beneath the surface.

Before he could respond, a knock echoed through the room.

The door opened.

Ivan stepped in.

He wore a newly upgraded suit—sleek, light purple armor that hummed faintly with power. The enhancements were obvious, from its speed capabilities to the energy reserves embedded within its core. The whip in his hand crackled with contained force, the air around it distorting slightly.

Justin's eyes lit up instantly.

Greed. Awe. Desire.

"This is… incredible," he breathed.

Even seeing it in person was enough to inspire fear.

And profit.

"If this can be mass-produced…" he muttered, his mind racing. "Stark Industries wouldn't stand a chance. No one would."

He leaned forward, barely containing his excitement. "Name your price. I want this technology."

Ivan didn't answer.

"One billion?" Justin pressed.

Silence.

"Two billion? Three?"

Still nothing.

Frustration crept into his voice. "At least give me a number! We can negotiate!"

Ivan finally spoke, his tone calm but firm. "This technology comes from my father. It's not something I'll just sell."

Justin stared at him, incredulous. "You're seriously comparing a piece of steel to family?"

Ivan didn't argue. He simply glanced toward Li Xuan.

Receiving a subtle nod, he continued, "If you want it, we'll need a different arrangement. More investment. A partnership. Something… mutually beneficial."

Justin leaned back, exhaling sharply.

For the first time in a long while, he wasn't the one holding the advantage.

And yet—

He wanted it too much to walk away.
