"Well actually, we don't know neither." Piya said crossing her arms.
"But I've heard rumors." Zy added with a sigh. "They're planning some kind of secret attack soon which I'm not sure when or why exactly."
"I see." Rayan said. "We'll keep an eye out then."
He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and slid one between his lips. "Want some girls?"
"No thanks." Zy replied.
Piya took one.
Rayan lit his cigarettes then chuckled. "My dad told me to give Ryn a pistol as a gift for him."
Zy and Piya exchanged curious looks.
"Ryn hates guns." Rayan continued. He pulled the pistol out. "So he gave it to me instead." He glanced at it with a grin. "But damn — this bad boy is fine as hell" he praised the pistol.
"Right." Zy laughed softly. "Wow, I genuinely forgot it was Ryn's birthday."
"Who's Ryn?" Piya asked.
"His older brother." Zy answered.
"I heard he became a teacher." Zy went on. "The three subjects. Crazy right?"
Rayan pulled out another cigarette, laughing under his breath.
"It's insane. Hes got an actual job and here i am fighting people for money."
"At least you're both getting something out of it." Zy said.
"Money is money" Piya shrugged.
Rayan's smile faded. "I still hate him." Rayan sighed. "But I dont fucking understand why our parents like him so much when he clearly hates them."
"Favouritism is common these days." Piya said calmly.
"Yeah." Zy sighed. "It sucks. Years passed and he's still the favorite."
"Exactly and the fact that dad likes him a lot." Rayan snapped. "Even though he's not into any of the shit Ryn does."
"Hes just picking a random side at this point." Piya said.
"Literally, I'm the one into combat and almost everything he likes and yet he doesn't even wanna look in my way." Rayan said.
"I'm sorry." Zy said gently.
Rayan waved it off. "It's fine."
Then he smiled again but this time, it didn't reach his eyes.
"Sometimes, i think the only way to stop favoritism..."
He exhaled smoke.
"Is to make sure there's no one left to favor."
The alley went quiet.
Ryn stepped outside his grandfather's house, taking a moment to enjoy the view of the snow covered forest.
"Son" his grandfather called with a smile. "When you come back, buy me some mangos. I'll make your favorite drink."
"I'll make sure of it, grandpa." Ryn said as he pulled him into a hug.
He walked through the forest, humming his favorite song softly. It was his day off, which meant he could head back to the city and finally relax after so long.
Ryn returned to the school building to get his car then drove off.
As he followed the road, he noticed two black cars trailing behind him. He didn't really think much of it at first.
He grabbed his cold drink and took a sip. "Always not cold enough." He muttered.
A few minutes later,
curiousity got the better of him so he checked the mirror again.
The cars were...gone?
That made him frown. There was only one road — no turns and no side paths.
Maybe they stopped somewhere? He thought. Bathroom break or something.
He shook his head. "Why do I even care? Its just some random cars minding their own business." He said to himself.
By the time he reached the city and the thought had faded.
He booked an apartment, He planned to stay for a month then headed inside. Exhaustion finally caught up to him. His body sank into the bed as his eyes closed almost instantly.
A buzz broke the silence.
Ryn frowned and reached for his phone.
A message...
From Rayan.
Isaw your car.
So you did think about coming back.
I thought you were afraid to see me 😂
Ryn turned his phone off and closed his eyes once again.
A moment passed.
The phone buzzed again.
Once.
Twice.
Again and again.
Ryn groaned and grabbed his phone anyway.
The screen lit up with notifications of text messages.
And it's rayan. Spamming messages, one after another clearly just to annoy him.
Ryn(replied):
Fuck off.
"What the heck is wrong with this man? Still childish at his age. I can't even believe I'm his older brother." Ryn muttered, frowning.
He reached for his phone, planning to reply and block him after.
But before he could even type a word, another message popped up from Rayan.
It caught Ryn's attention immediately.
Rayan:
There's an accident on the road from the way you drive through.
Two cars got crashed on the side of the road. The drivers and passengers are all short. They're all Nova's gang members, enemies of the Hevalair.
Ryn froze for a moment.
Those two black cars earlier. They weren't random. They were gangsters that got shot by the Hevalair Gang.
He let out a slow sigh, his mind racing with so many questions. "Why wasn't i hit too?" He whispered to himself.
He always thought that hevalair hated him — he was Rayan's older brother after all yet somehow, he hadn't been targeted.
"Why..." He whispered again to himself.
Narrator:
Well, did you love it?
What do you think happened btw them? That got them start acting like this?
