To my surprise—
he wasn't harsh with me.
And I don't even know why part of me expected him to be.
Maybe because of the way he looked right now.
Maybe because his eyes were glowing red and his wolf was so close to the surface that even the air around him felt heavier.
Maybe because this version of Kyle felt terrifying in a way I had never experienced before.
So somewhere inside my head, my brain had stupidly convinced itself that because he was angry—
furious—
he might push me away too.
But he didn't.
Not even close.
Kyle stopped moving the second I called his name.
Then slowly, he turned fully toward me.
And for one terrifying second, all I could see was the wolf in him.
The Alpha.
The predator.
But then—
His expression softened.
Not fully.
The rage was still there.
Still violent.
Still burning underneath his skin.
But somehow, impossibly, it gentled when he looked at me.
