-Caspian Grayson:
I just stared at him.
Completely speechless.
The question he asked stayed suspended somewhere between us, but my mind couldn't properly hold onto it anymore because all my attention had narrowed down to him. To the way he was looking at me. To the warmth of his hand over mine. To the unbearable softness in his voice that still lingered in the air around us even after he stopped speaking.
And I realized, suddenly, that I didn't know what to do with any of this.
Nobody had ever looked at me like this before.
Not like they were trying to memorize every small detail they loved about me.
Not like they genuinely enjoyed noticing things about me that even I ignored.
My throat felt tight.
Not painfully.
Just full.
Too full.
I could still feel every single thing he had said lingering inside my chest, replaying itself over and over again in a way that made it impossible to think clearly.
My hair.
My smile.
My eyes.
